fwiw when Clinton first voted in favor, she made it very clear that she was doing it trusting what intelligence claimed wrt WMDs.

Not sure about that; at least a quick Google tells me that she was against the carried interest thing as early as 2007. You can't blame her for failing to pass a given law if Republicans prevented it.

But to Trump's credit, he's doing better than last time with "That makes me smart".

I think that is why many people voted in favor of the iraq war, along with the peer pressure to vote for it. Remember "if you're not with us, you're against us"?

I think they'd love it. They'd incorporate in low-regulation states and offer only the bare minimum while state regulators would be left powerless thanks to the now created interstate commerce issue.

It's not a weak defense.

Anyone voting against it at the time would have been called "UNAMERIKAN".

Dubya invaded with a mandate over even a lot of intelligence at the time, he had to dig hard for that non existent yellow cake to justify it.
