You do understand how leverage works right? If you have another country's leader being defiant and you need them to cooperate, then you threaten them with the use of force. Its kind of hard for a US president to even use that threat when the use of force must be approved by Congress first. Congress voted for that leverage because Bush said he would use war as a last resort. You nor anyone else outside of his administration knew he had no intention of not doing that, you can say you did but you'd be full of shit. Your gut may have told you not to trust him but arm chair quarter backing doesn't really mean shit in the real world.
