Currently have aloe on and when it dries the girl friend has some skin lotion she used after tanning that she says will help so I think I might try that too, but does anyone know of any good ways to stop the burn and just let the tan settle in?

Aloe vera gel. The real thing from the fronds of the plant. If you can't get some of that, get some in a bottle. There's even aloe vera gel with lidocaine in it, that stuff is great.

I take a hot (HOT) shower right after I get one. Hurts like hell, but numbs it long-term (Thanks, skin, but I already know about the cell damage. Stop hurting me). Then I use aloe vera, so as to heal it.

A hot hot shower? Who the hell was the first person to sit down and say "you know what my back is on fire, I think I'll add scalding water to increase the pain."

I'd recommend just the aloe vera......

Just as with other burns, removing heat from the affected site with ample amounts of cool water is a good idea. By taking a hot shower you are just adding heat... 😕

I guess it's kind of like... if my arm hurts I'll pinch my leg?

Drink lots of water to help ease the dehydration and speed healing. Vitamin C helps healing as well, so drink some OJ or something, nothing too crazy. I'm a fair-skinned red-head --- aloe gel stored in the fridge is the best solution I've found.
