It doesnt matter if you register to vote or not, they get names from the phonebook and other sources. I was not registered to vote and got a jury duty notice.

None of the exemptions apply to me, they are all for gov. workers or senior citizens on their death beds or something. I wrote something on the back under the section labeled "remarks" and told them it would be an extreme inconvenience to miss 2 entire weeks of the semester. What else should i do? should i send a sepereate letter, type a letter?

If you get called up to the selection thing, just go crazy to the defence lawyer throws you out.

When I served, they let anyone who's a full time student go. All you had to do was bring in your class/semester schedule during selection the 1st day.

Prior to that time where I actually served, I said that I had projects for work that had deadlines coming up. They postponed my date with no problem.

When they ask you if you can keep an open mind and be unbiased while listening to all the facts and then make an informed decision... just say NO.

I didn't have a driver's license when I was tapped for duty, however, I did have a county library card.

Luckily, I was the first to be dismissed. During selection just tell the lawyers that you think the charges are BS and they'll say thanks for your time and give you $5.

What happens if I had a vacation scheduled for the time I'ms supposed to show up for jury duty? Will they reimburse me for the plane tickets?

In my experience they ask about travel plans and let you off if you already have tickets. That may not apply where you live.

have you called them? when my daughter got a jury duty notice last year I called and told them she was a full time student and they excused her, no problem, no questions..

anno

I got one when I was 19. I had a class the day that I was scheduled to go for jury duty, so I just sent them a copy of my university schedule and they took me off of the list for a few years.

My girlfriend just called them and said she was a full time student and worker and that there was no way she could afford to do it, along with missing school. The lady told her to send a copy of her student ID and she got out of it.

Don't register to vote in your next lifetime 😛

Tell them you believe that the defendant wouldn't be a suspect if he wasn't guilty and that they should hang him - they won't take you after that.

Call the judge before you are supposed to show up. They'll pretty much always either postpone your service for a break or dismiss it altogether (at least until the next time you get picked).

Answer jury selection questions in a way that would make you seem like an hostile candidate. It is not that hard, really.

Actually, registering to vote makes your chances of getting called up for jury duty less. A lot of places take the jury pool from driver's license rolls. Being registered to vote and actually voting shows the city or county that you actually have opinions, and those are the people they want to avoid on a jury.
