None of the exemptions apply to me, they are all for gov. workers or senior citizens on their death beds or something. I wrote something on the back under the section labeled "remarks" and told them it would be an extreme inconvenience to miss 2 entire weeks of the semester. What else should i do? should i send a sepereate letter, type a letter?

most of the time you won't get picked anyway and so it won't take that much time
if you don't live in a big city, it might just be a call in deal to see if they need you to come in

You could have ignored it and thrown it in the trash. That would have worked.

just like in the Simpsons...how can they prove that you did receive the letter?

There's almost always an exemption for truly full-time students (or at least a way to have them push it off for a while). I got summoned while I was still a senior in college, and I was able to do it over the summer after I graduated. This is Massachusetts, though, so YMMV.

If they won't let you out of it by mail, see if you can call up the office that handles it and talk to a real person. If you explain that you just can't do it at that time because you're a full-time student, they can probably work something out. Of course, if you're just trying to get out of it because you're lazy... get off your butt and go serve. 😛

1. Ask them if you can do it over the summer when school is out, they'll reschedule you.
2. Take summer school
3. ...
4. Profit!

I got them to reschedule mine to the summer when I first got jury duty, but they would only reschedule once despite the fact that I also was taking summer classes. I got them to pick a date I could work around classes on though and told my professor why I wouldn't be in class.

Just go in. During the interview, express the belief that the defendant is obviously guilty and should be hung from the nearest tree. Say this regardless of the type of trial (criminal/civil). Offer to get some rope and chain from your beat up ford pickup for maximum effectiveness.

I guarantee if you do this you will not have to serve on a jury. You might have to face one, but well...

Say it's nearing finals time and taking those days off for jury duty would really screw up your study time or become an inconvience if you had to reschedule your finals.

I got one too a few years back. I just checked the box on the form declaring that I was a full time student and then I never heard back from them.

I got a jury duty notice and wrote back explaining my situation.

Full time college student and I work in a restaurant for tips.

It would be distrastrous for me to miss school and work since I dont get payed unless I work. I was on a tight budget.
