Suggestion for a TV tuner card?

I was looking for a TV tuner card that is not attached to a video card. If possible something that can support high definition formats. This is for a HTPC project so any help would be appreciated thanks!

The MyHD MDP-120 is without a doubt the best HD card out there. The ATI card really is a piece of crap in comparison.

What's wrong w/ the ATI HDTV tuner? I was interested in it since newegg has a $50 rebate on it now.

From my experience, ATI TV cards absolutely suck. The cards themselves are OK, but the software is abysmal.

Ever since I started using DScaler, i have not had any trouble with my ATI TV Wonder Pro.

AverTV makes some decent cards for low cost. I use an AverTV (forget the model) just for vid capture but for most of my TV tuner needs ie...playing video game consoles or watching TV I have an Nextvision N6 . I can use my massive monitor without having to turn on the PC.

The MyHD is an excellent hardware based card with solid software and drivers. I install it and it works beautifully without any problems. My experience with the ATI is just the opposite, nothin' but problems. Maybe it's just me, don't know.
If your looking for a cheaper software based card I'd go with the DVICO HDTV3 over the ATI. This card has also worked well for me.
The only reason I see for using the ATI is for MCE 05 since it's currently the only HD card supported.
I don't know for sure but I also suspect that the ATI card is already broadcast flag compliant. The DVICO and MyHD are not.

I've had my eye on the expensive-but-beautiful Sweetspot for a while. Quite a step up from my TV Wonder VE, which is worth the twenty dollars it cost me but isn't an impressive card by any stretch of the imagination.

after owning a TV Wonder VE, I'll never buy another ATi tuner card again.

I was looking at a basic Hauppage WinTV PVR-250, should be enough to satify my occasional TV watching. 😛

Exactly my point, the software blows. If you want something for TiVo like functionality odds are it'll cost you extra.

I'm gonna purchase a TV Wonder USB 2.0 card tomorrow actually, so I'll let you know how that turns out. The reviews so far have been positive. The Asus PCI card works very well and has good IQ .

Well Here's to bring this topic back to the top. I have purchased the TV Wonder USB 2.0, and want to post a mini review.

I will have some time tomorrow afternoon so if you are interested in this card check back then. I would like to upload some sample video so people can check out the quality, but my hosting capabilities are rather limited. If anyone has some space to share, please PM me and we can work something out.
