I think he's got one of these.

I really don't see how that has more road presence than a Gallardo or R8. But I think that is just a matter of opinion.

I think that's exactly my problem as I pointed out. It's not that high a budget in the overall scheme of things. Which is why I said I wouldn't mind looking at used (though nothing too old I think). I don't have plans to go any higher.

Fair enough.

If you want an elite car, you're going to have to come up with elite money, and $150K ain't gonna do it. Start getting into $200K+ and MAYBE you'll have something less common. You'll get into the Aston Martin DB9 and Mercedes SLS type cars which definitely stand out.

It sounds like you want a Lamborghini Aventador with a Walmart sticker price.

~$150k is plenty and can buy you almost any used car, even the less common and head turners. $300k new car will be $150k or less in few years. Expensive cars are not immune to depreciation.

Still waiting for some pictures.

As Hal and lurk said you got your pimp wagon set with that quatroporte. When you get a second post some pictures. I have a long running infatuation with that trident on the front of that car.

To get something to complement your stable I would look for a two seater drivers car. There are so many to choose from its not even funny.

I went with a first gen boxster and got what I wanted on the cheap.

M-Series 135, fully loaded with all bells and whistles.

It's subtle and probably won't turn heads as much as a Lambo or whatever, but fuck that car looks awesome.

Reread op.

If you have time or means or both and want something unique there is the restore/mod option as well as the hard core restore. I only recommend the full restore if you are truly a masochist.

Some people need things to be turn key fun and some guys like me like the jouney almost as much as the destination when it comes to getting a car the way you want it.

Where do you live as well? If your euro then you have more options.

Was there a car when you were a kid that kept you up at night? Old school 80s Countach? Ruf slant nose? 1970 340 cuda? etc.

For me it was a early 80s 930 slant nose turbo. I told the wife I want one before I die. The funny thing is it will probably kill me the first time I take a turn at speed....

Hmm funny I was just looking the other night, could try and pick up a TT Gallardo around that, already modded, tweaked, and trouble free. 1200 AWHP FTW.

High dollar cars are usually well taken care of and low miles, with people only selling their 2012 because all their friends just bought 2013s.

Gotta go with the Ford GT - May have to increase your budget by 10% but since your ballin and money is no object - fuck it right!

I've seen like one in my life while I see Ferrari's, GT-R's, Vipers, R8's, Porsche Turbos on the daily.

I must admit though - I'd think I'd buy a 2012/3 Nissan GTR for $90K and take the $60K and buy a Jaguar XK Convertible for summer cruising.

GT is a nice thought. Only made two years I think ('05 and '06).

Of course an original GT40 would work too, 289 or 427, they're both awesome.

Thanks, but his budget is $150k after tax.

You are out of your league VT grad.

Thanks for making me laugh at this random post I checked out here.

OP, $150k can bring a lot of grin. I was behind a Maserati today that was just blocking lanes. Then he tried to step up to me as I passed him trying to block me.

Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo in order of newest selections.

Personally even if I had the money, I'd buy an older M3- one with a Straight-6, I just prefer Straight-6 over V8s. Plus the M3 is about as perfect as a car can get, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper. JMO though, even if I had 150k to spend on a car, I would probably still have my Cruze, maybe a WRX if I was feeling feisty.

Late 80's E30 M3. Give it to a good shop to have either a S62 or an LS6 transplanted in (with a little bit of boost). Slam it on AST Coilovers, and get whatever 17 or 18in amazing wheels you want. Biggest brakes you can fit. High end paint job (lambo orange, graphite grey, and some exposed carbon fiber).

Interior? Recaro Pole Positions, 4 point cage, 6 point harness. Everything done up to match.

Thats my midlife crisis car. Would walk just about everything in the known universe.

I wonder how the lady friends would do getting in it though. Clarkson's many claimed (and shown) tribulations with it might have put me off. However they look out of my range again.

M3 - no, I don't think so. I'm not looking for a car nerds car as I said before. I've also had my fair share of M3's, M5's and Alpinas over the years - and I'm pretty much over them.

Going to be poking my head in occasionally over Christmas period, would appreciate any interesting / unusual but viable additions to the list.
