I can't stand regular cheerios. so bland. I love honey nut cheerios though.

my favorite cereals tend to be the chocolate ones - cocoa pebbles and cocoa puffs. Delicious.

Nope I mean regular Cheerios. I absolutely love Cheerios, they're my favourite cereal. I eat them plain, just 0% milk + Cheerios. They're so damn expensive around here though, about $7 a box.

0% milk is water. $7 for cheerios? Unless its 8lbs, fuck that country.

After, so the sugar doesn't go straight to the bottom of the bowl. I'm lactose intolerant these days, so I use Vanilla, Strawberry, or Chocolate Soy Milk and because of that don't need to add sugar to any cereal.

it unquestionably goes after the milk

otherwise itll just fall right the f**k through and to the bottom, with milk, you at least get a temporary float period, and the sugar sticks to the cerial

anyone who puts sugar in prior to the milk has not taken a class on ceriatical dynamics

Always sugar, then milk. Though I rarely add sugar nowadays except to ones like wheat chex.

wtf is 0% milk?

Skim milk
I always thought skim is 1%.

Nope. Skim milk is "fat-free."

Most places have milk withseveral fat contents:

Whole milk = 3.5-4% milkfat

2%

1%

Skim milk = 0% milk fat

I've seen (and used) 1/2% milk before. Better than skim, but not as "fatty" as 2%. I prefer 1% for most daily use, BUT, it has more sodium than whole milk...so, I usually get whole milk. 😀

Any moran who ends up with a thick scud of sugar on the bottom of the bowl has flunked cereal stir-o-nomics. I put a 5 gallon bucket of sugar on my cereal and NEVER have this sugar layer on the bottom of the bowl...

It's all in how you pour the milk. My sugar(when I used to add it) always went first, and I had minimal sinkage, even after multiple bowls.

The worst thing I ever saw was someone eating fruity pebbles with soda instead of milk. Said he saw it on some movie. Damn that had to be a sugar rush.

jesus christ!

this is giving me some ideas

im thinking candy corn instead of fruity pebbles and energy drink instead of soda

Does the sugar go in before the milk, or after. Think rice krispies specifically. It seems that if you put the sugar in before the milk, you get a better spread but it drops to the bottom. If you go after the milk, it sticks together and stays at the top.

Discuss.

real men eat Special K instead of Rice Krispies... and the sugar goes on top, after the milk.

Real men eat cereal marketed at women?

Dude, Cheerios are really friggen sweet by themselves, you put sugar on them?
I don't think I've ever heard Cheerios referred to as "sweet," much less "really friggen sweet."

I think Frosted Flakes would be fatal to you.😉

They must have a different Cheerios in Kiwi land. A serving size has 1g of sugar. That's not even enough to taste :^D

Maybe he is a victim of Australia's high illiteracy. He's actually been buying Alpha-bits but can only read the letter "o".

The only cereal I ever added sugar to regularly was when I was forced to eat Shredded Wheat (all out of other cereals), but I stopped doing that too when I realized that it's actually good when fresh and it tastes a little sweet even (the biscuit kind... the bite-size one rarely are because they aren't individually packaged and are exposed to too much air).

Same here. Plain Cheerios = WIN. I usually use 0.5% or 1% milk though.

Eat something better than Rice Krispies and you won't need to add sugar. There are plenty of cereals out there that taste way better than RK and are both healthier and lower in calories.

i tend to like the high calorie cereals.
And i eat two bowls worth, or back at my parents house it was a massive bowl that I used for cereal.

when your active, the calorie differences of cereal are meaningless.

When you're an adult, can spell and have grammar skills you won't like high calorie kids cereals. Not because of the calories, but because they taste like shit. But this thread isn't about Froot Loops or Cocoa Puffs or other cereals for 6 year olds that have enough sugar in them to keep an elephant bouncing off the walls for hours. It's about the grown up cereal like Rice Krispies that some people feel the need to add sugar to because it's too bland right out of the box and there's no need to eat cereals like that. If you want flavor you can get it without adding extra sugar. You just need to quit RK and Corn Flakes and join the 21st century. They make adult cereals that don't need more sugar to taste good. Rice Krispies are Krappie.

I'm 22 and have yet to outgrow cereal. I like a high calorie morning boost, if I miss cereal any morning I don't feel the same all day.

As a college student, it also tends to be about the only thing I really have time to grab between PT and class (and this year I have rotc class immediately after PT, ugh.. i need food at that point something fierce).

Name me some of your "adult" cereals. Don't bother listing Kashi foods. Anything Kashi I feel like I might as well be chewing on twigs. Never knew cereals could taste that terrible.
Wheaties is about the most "adult" cereal I can enjoy. That and oatmeal or Cream of Rice.
Frosted Flakes is a favorite too.

Multi-Grain Cheerios are sweet. Same for Honey Bunches of Oats. Clusters? Grainola? Raisin Bran? Any of the varieties with dried fruit (strawberry Special K, for example)? Need I go on? They don't need to be sickeningly sweet kids cereals to be sweet, high-calorie adult cereals.

There's already way too much sugar in cereals, how the hell can you add more?!?

WTF I've seen the cereals Americans eat, and it already has enough sugar.

Rice Crispies. Corn flakes. Grape Nuts. Are you stupid?

Are you? READ THE DAMN BOX SOMETIME: They've already had sugar added. Obviously, they stopped there for a reason. If you think it needs more, grow the eff up. Corn Flakes and Rice Krispies are delicious without extra sugar. Grape Nuts CAN be sweet if they are fresh but they get bitter even within the expiration date. OBVIOUSLY it's a matter of degrees and OBVIOUSLY they left it at that level because that is the baseline for all. On the other hand, Kellogg's Frosted Flakes are sickeningly sweet and yet I've seen idiots add EVEN MORE sugar to that. Ugh.

No kidding. W/O sugar, they're about as sweet or flavorful as the box they are packed in...

compare again vs honey nut cheerios, or frosted cheerios.

Scooping the sugar at the bottom of the bowl is the best part. So Before the milk.

Damn, some of you guys must have led sheltered lives as kids.

Sugar on cereal was almost a staple for me. Corn Flakes, Kix, Rice Krispies, Cheerios, Corn Chex all demanded sugar on them....before the milk. Once I was done eating the cereal I would tilt the bowl enough to scoop all of the sugar and eat it. Then drink the sugar-laden milk last.

That said, I stopped that around 18 or so cause my body just couldn't handle that much sugar anymore 🙂

Sugar goes in after the milk. That way it sticks to the cereal. Otherwise it just goes down into the milk in the bottom of the bowl.

wtf? ppl add sugar to cereal, as if there wasn't enough already?
no wonder there's so many fat bastards roaming around.
put in some fruits or raisins if you need a sweetener.

Well shredded wheat is kind of blah without something. My dad told me once that he would never eat it again, I asked why, and he said that if he wanted to eat hay he could buy it in bulk a lot cheaper 🙂

I sugar almost every cereal after pouring milk.
Only cereal I don't sugar would be Cinn. Toast Crunch.

Brown sugar is the best though.

man, this thread brings back memories. I'd sugar all of my breakfast cereals after adding the milk so the sugar stuck to the cereal. Rice krispies, corn flakes, Chex, grape nuts, anything that didn't have sugar on it already needed sugar added. A couple tablespoons was about right, unless it was shredded wheat, which would need several heaping tablespoons to make it palatable. I used to hate it when mom would mix healthy cereal with lucky charms or something good and ruin it's sugary deliciousness too.

Man, no wonder I was a little fat ass. I'd sugar my cereal, have a glass of molasses or chocolate milk for snack, PB & nutella sandwich for lunch, and chocolate cake or cookies several times a week as a nighttime snack. It all makes sense now!

Sugar on your cereal? I put my breaded chicken in a bun.

For what it's worth, when I was a kid I used to eat the worst cereals, like frosted flakes, reeces cereal, and that pirate dude who had the red berry crunch cereal.
