Sue for False Advertising on craigslist?

If one were to travel to buy a car off craigslist that was a great distance away and when the person arrived, the car was significantly different than described, wouldn't that person have a case to take them to small claims court? So let's say you travel from the SF bay area to Los Angeles to buy a car off craigslist but when you arrive, you can see that the craigslist ad basically lied about the condition and features, etc. about the car, would you be able to sue for transportation costs and whatnot?

No, and this is a hypothetical situation. It seems like the people on here are telling me not to travel in order to buy a car which is unfortunate because the car I want is only in LA and not really in the Bay Area, well unless I want to pay a premium for it..
 
You dont read any disclaimers do you? CL is not responsible for any listing on its site, the person posting the listing is.
 
For something as big as a car, I would just buy from a used car dealership to be extra safe, unless it's a friend or someone you know or connected to someone you know, that is selling it. If the person is selling privately it's probably because the dealership would not give him the money he wants, which means the car is not worth that. (has issues or what not).

Ask for more pictures. Maybe get a mechanic to look at it.

And no, I don't think you'd win a small claims court case.

In your hypothetical situation, I can't rationalize around someone driving 5 hours to look at a car off of CL.

so I'm gonna go with....no. Eat it, fool.
