The fed is not interested in being "fair" - they just want to make the middleclass poorer and the poor richer.
lol making everyone pay for something few will use
I do not qualify for any need-based scholarships because my parents make too much money (both pharmacists) and have saved and invested a lot of money. I go to a state university and am fortunate that all my tuition is covered (with enough for rent and food) by merit scholarships.
So I have no room to complain, but this one thing frustrates me.. my best friend from high school goes to a private school that is about $44,000 a year and all but $5,000 is covered by a need-based grant, and the remainder is covered by his parents. Just...frustrating.
I fucking.hate how my significant ither cannot.get financial aid because we happen to have some savings and are not.in debt up to our eyeball
in the meantime, people who shop 24/7 and have made poor finamcial choices will receive half their tuition paid
Shouldnt you be rewarded for good behavior?

"all but $5,000"? Dam dude, that is nothing to be frustrated about. I swear, today, people want everything for free. If he really wants that $5k covered, tell him to work his but off and find a scholarship. They are crap loads out there that go unclaimed.

it's "aid" holmes...like charity.
I didn't qualify for any my second time around...they expect one to be able to save 30% of their income towards education.

When I went to college I was able to pay for it. Go a few years down the line when the economy crashed, bubble burst, and my degree was basically worthless. Now I needed to go back and get reeducated in a different field but didn't have the financial resources to pay for so I applied for financial aid but was told no dice because I already had a degree. So when I did qualify but didn't use it was OK but when I needed it I couldn't get it. It sucks.
I hear you. I am in debt because of lack of financial aid. Of course, I also blame myself for letting myself do it. I did not need to go to a private college.
I think you misunderstand. I go to a state school that costs about $9400 a year, and that and living expenses are covered solely by merit-based scholarships because I worked really hard in high school.
Whereas my friend goes to a school costing $44,000 and nearly all is covered by need-based scholarships. I also didn't mean to insinuate that he wants the remainder paid for.
So I had to work really hard to get the costs of a state university covered, whereas my friend didn't have to do anything special and gets the costs of a private university covered. All because my parents are in a well-paying profession and made investments (or conversely, his aren't/didn't). Just saying it seems a little wrong.
