I actually had a girlfriend in highschool that went jesus freak. Broke up with me about a week before my birthday... I was a bit upset... luckily it was one hell of a birthday party... really got my mind off of it... Was really glad I didn't dwell on it... she was pretty freaking nutty towards the end .... to be honest , I couldn't be happier I dodged that bullet. Had quite a few really good relationships since then and currently I am in one that I truly love. It will pass. half of highschool is bad relationships

She's playing mind games with you -- every woman does whether it's conscious or subconscious. She still wants you to want her etc and it makes her feel good to still have some power over you.

Like Fast Eddie Love always says, make 'em think you're fine and are moving on. Tell her something like "It was great to hear from you again, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I was out with a friend / on a date etc". If she calls, tell her "you'd really like to keep talking but you're on your way out to hook up with a friend / date etc". Before you know it you'll really have moved on and found someone who isn't as crazy.

And remember, the best way to get over someone is to get under someone...

The girl is trying to keep a friendship with you, which sometimes is very hard to do. If one side is unwilling to keep the friendship, it will be doomed to fail. Since you are still so EMO about it, just don't say anything, or you can always just be curt and polite.

It sucks, but it is life.

bullshit. women do this type of ****** at any age on a whim. some women just dont have the gumption to stick things out, preferring to go and do their own thing when they get bored or things get difficult.

You really, really, seriously have got to be kidding. This girl isn't worth a second thought if she would do this to a guy who really liked her and showed it.

Unless there's a really good reason to believe she's changed AND she apologizes for what she did, just do your best to forget her.
 
Well I just couldn't stop thinking about it so basically I wrote her-no fronting no faking. Told her just that I'm not great and that just trying to move on. Told her to take care.

I understand she's just young and immature. I don't want to bash her to make her feel worse. I don't want to "try to get back together". I don't want to be a d!ck. Being real and honest is usually the best course. Now I'll just go back to trying to move along in life.

I know there are other fish in the sea. I know that I'll be fine in time. I also have a great deal of respect for her, not for what she did to me or who she is now, but for what we shared together. I don't want to tarnish those memories and respect by lying now or making things up.

She's being selfish and acting like an immature b*tch. But she is a sweet girl who meant a whole lot to me. We had a very great relationship. I deserve it to myself to maintain that dignity and sanctity of what we had even if its hard now and doens't make me "seem" to her like I'm great even if i'm not.

Thanks to all who lent support. Ignoring the text was probably the smartest thing to do, but I just couldn't. I think anyone who's really been in love and hurt understands the process of moving on and that sometimes its impossible to do the best thing. My goal is just not to do something dumb. (like 'getting under someone to get over someone') I want to be a GOOD person and be healthy. Self destructive behavior, destroying the good memories, lessening the experiences we had...those aren't good in the long run. (though i do resort to unhealthy nights of drinking alone! lol....not good i know, but you do what you gotta do)
 
Another YAGT had the best advice I've ever heard for dealing with ex's like this. Just text back "thanks". That's it. Tell her nothing of your social life or how she hurt you or blah blah blah. Show her indifference.

Wow. Another thread where every single poster says basically the same thing and then the OP goes and does exactly the opposite.

The only way to move on is the use your anger to fuel your motiviation to get some new tail. That's moving on.
