Well basically its true. And it also demonstrates that basically people are OK with killing, just under the right circumstances. So-called "pro-life" people tend to be just fine with killing provided the people in question arent white and control oil or something else important.
So called "pro-choice" people routinely vote for politicians who wanna take away most of your choices "For the greater good".

When you get right down to it the abortion issue really isnt about the countries female civil rights or the babies rights or whether killing is OK under certain circumstances. Its about whether or not a woman wants to have a baby, and if not, whether she wants to not bring a new baby into the world at all, or go through the complicated adoption process and have some stranger take her child.

Everything else is just smokescreen for political agendas. I think the really disgusting thing is politicians using life and death stuff as a tool for getting power. To me thats far worse than a single woman agonizing over the decision to end a life or not.

Seriously, first time I ever questioned the whole abortion thing was in high school one day walking back on to campus after lunch, and there was a lady outside probably in her 50s, in no way a conservative typical bible lover, in fact she looked like an old hippie who just came from woodstock with flowers in her hair. She was handing us pamphlets showing aborted fetuses and begged us to use protection for having sex and to never have an abortion.

Awhile back I found the blog of an Emergency Room doctor. One story really stood out.

A homeless woman who was also a drug addict walked into the ER. She was in labor and gave birth a few hours later. The baby was born with severe birth defects. The birth defects were so bad that the child would have to be connected to a breathing machine and fed through a tube its entire life.

After talking to the doctor, the mother decided to remove the breathing machine and let the child die. The baby lived 1, maybe 2 days after being born.

"If" the mother would have received the care the she needed before the baby was born, would it have been better to terminate the pregnancy, or let the child die after birth?

I do not have an answer.

I did not bookmark the doctors blog and have been unable to find it again.

Well since you don't want to comment about us acting more "natural" like our closest living relatives... then let's move on to this. Education and contraception are something I think just about everybody in this thread has agreed with.

As for your "facts", the first one I won't go into. However the second one is a total strawman and irrelevant. Science and medical knowledge a 100 years ago was pretty rough. If abortions were performed 100 years ago (I'm guessing they were, but pretty rare) I'm sure there was a high chance of death resulting from it. As far as the curing cancer aspect, you could win the lottery but you'll never know if you don't play. Does that mean you're going to go play the lottery? And, if you follow that logic then why don't you have hundreds of kids and keep one, or more, girls pregnant at all times? If you don't, how do you know that you wouldn't have a kid who cured cancer? I'm just taking your view to a logical conclusion.

Sure, the chances of microbial life on Titan are much better than elsewhere in our Solar System (excluding Earth), but it's still extremely unlikely. In fact, as far as we can tell it's impossible.
