We should all blame ourselves for the society we live in. A dirty, corrupt, very violent society. That means we are dirty, corrupt, violent people, myself included. Very rare exceptions.
 
Maybe it has something to do with the gun vote? Get Americans to focus on Boston while the 2nd Amendment is repealed? Or more sinister yet, get everyone focused on Boston today and then attack city X tomorrow?

Or maybe its because the Boston marathon is on patriots day/April 15th. And whatever sick man decided to perpetuate this tragedy chose the Boston marathon for reason unrelated to the date.

Furthermore, patriots day celebrates the battle of Lexington concord. The Boston tea party was in December.

I'd put my money on jihadists, Al Qaeda as an organization doesn't exist anymore. It's all amateurs who subscribe to Al Qaeda's ideas, and this seems like the work of amateurs. Any organization or structure of Al Qaeda has long since been dismantled or thrown into total disarray since 9/11. Al Qaeda is more of an idea, a jihadist philioshopy, not an organization, and anyone that believes in violence to further islamist politics is considered an "Al Qaeda affiliate" even if they never met or got training from anyone with former group. So my money would be with some amateur who believes in Jihadist politics but never got any real training or contact with any of the old school Al Qaeda members (most of whom are dead or behind bars).

FYI Osama bin laden initially denied any involvement in the 9/11 attacks, but he's still considered the financier without even knowing the operation was taking place.

But the truth is, it does.

I surely hope it's not intentional, but still, before you send a missile or drop a bomb, you better make sure you know who is on the receiving end of it.

The huge amount of wrong info that has been on the net and tv has been staggering. From more bombs found to the JFK "bomb".

And Fox News has been at the front of putting out wrong info. The only info I have read that the bombs contained shrapnel were reports a doctor or doctors at the hospital found foreign objects in the wounds. They could have come from the surroundings, so I have a wait and see on this.

Every time something like this happens I tell myself that next time I'll try to avoid news in the first 24 hours or so so it isn't as chaotic. This isn't make a lot of sense to me - target selection and the way the devices were used say AQ but in that case someone should step forward and claim the credit. Maybe they have and it's being vetted or something? Of course it's possible that it was an individual who isn't really a member of any AQ cell but sympathizes with their cause. There's probably enough information out there about their methods so an individual could make an anti-personnel device without much trouble.

That's just how I feel too. It just feels like the other well known "domestic" bombings done typically by angry, white, vengenance driven lounatics. Eventually enough investigative work will be done to connect the dots and they'll find the criminal in his apartment filled with piles of evidence and a notebook full of political ramblings.
