lmao. i love that pic. high gas prices will weed them out. land-barges scare me.

/scared 😛
the crumple zone looks completely intact to me. That's pretty good colliding with another truck.

What's wrong ?

The Hummer looks like a piece of the hood came through the windshield & theres no way to tell how the front-seat footwells did, but the (GM?) pickup in the background looks like it did pretty well.
I'd still say that a full sized car like a Lincoln Towncar or a large Mercedes is the safest in an accident though.

well, next time your kids get hit in a tinny jap hatchback by someone in a landcruiser, come back and tell us that 😛

What if the tiny jap hatchback gets hit by another tiny jap hatchback?

I've purchased a truck and an SUV since gas prices went up. I love the fact that I can buy something nearly new (or brand new) because people are afraid to spend an extra $5/fillup. Hell, the insurance drop more than covered the excess gas every month.

Not to mention that SUVs are better at creaming kids if the kid is hit by an SUV. Smaller cars have lower bumpers and dampened bonnets (hoods), SUVs typically have flatter fronts and tougher external parts: great for smashing the brains out through children's ears should they dare venture onto your road...

Owning a SUV: it's small penis/wanting to feel superior issue.

asshat. How about being able to go offroad? Yeah you can do that in your ****** minvan

nominated for the most inane and retarded comment ever. tool.

EDIT: Never mind the load capacity and tow-ratings either

Listen, dry your tears and put your packet of mini kleenex back in your purse. Naturally, if you've got a genuine need for one of these vehicles (that do have specific roles) then yes, these are the tools for the job. However, unless you've been living on mars for the past 20 years, you'll have noticed lots of small women (who never, ever go off road, tow, or drive up mountains) driving these huge lumbering beasts around town with 2 kids in the back. These people buy these vehicles as they believe they are safer, and the vehicle gives them a feeling of power. I figured it was patently obvious it was these people to which I was referring, but thanks for informing me that in future I'll really have to spell everything out in fear that some won't figure some basic point out for themselves.

In essence, these are ----->OFF-ROAD<----- vehicles and should be used as such. Using them as an onroad vehicle to drive your kids to school is not the intended purpose of these vehicles.

Write me back if any of the above needs further clarification.

You're dead wrong about SUVs. Most full size SUVs are NOT MEANT FOR OFF ROAD, and are very poor at it. Same with crossovers obviously. There are only a few SUVs and pickups that are good enough for off roading.

I'd take it a step further as to point out that they don't even offroad well. Do all of those SUV's ship with offroad tires or the regular pep-boy's faire. The majority are "offroaders that can't"...

ever heard of toyota? Prado? Landcruiser? Being some of the best stock 4WDs you can buy...how 'bout Jeep?

Dude you live in Australia. This thread is about American vehicles. There is no Prado in the USA, and Toyota doesn't sell a real Landcruiser here and the Tacoma is getting bloated and incapable. Jeep is switching to independent suspensions and wannabe sportscar "SRT8" vehicles. Their next car will be a crossover.

Come to Texas and then make the pro SUV posts. They mostly don't apply here.

I'm curious as to how they managed to have a head-on collission at that location in the first place. I suspect it has something to do with an idiot behind the wheel.

After spending a year in a trauma surgery ward, it's my experience that people in an SUV vs auto crash, the person in the SUV is ALWAYS less injured than the person in the car. In a solo vehicle accident, the injuries appear to be about equal.

Makes complete sense.

It's not the SUVs I'm scared of but those lifted trucks with giant size tires. I mean their bumpers are at my head level and I drive a full size car too.
