So I had finals last week. Didn't do as well as I had hoped. i blame it on lack of knowing how to study. No one has ever really taught me how to do it correctly. All i really do it just review the notes I have, that usually is not enough. I am a junior in HS so this is kind of a bad time to start asking for help, but better late then never. So I was wondering what everyone would sugest and what has worked for you. If you are wondering I have a 3.3 gpa. Not to great but respectable. I need to do better. Thanks for all your help.

Pull up that English mark of yours and your GPA will be fine.

you just, you know... study.

time management is key. don't screw yourself by not learning the material until the night before.

HS is the time when you can have a job and blow all of your money on everything. I wouldn't be suprised if the majority of HSers had better computers than 1-2 year college students.

In high school I just read the book. In college it depends on the class. In my ochem class the book was much more helpful while in bio classes its all about notes. If you're getting distracted its better to go to the library or out of the room that has the computer/tv

I found studying as a group to be really helpful when studying for a foreign language test (especially if parts of the test are oral/aural).

that's about it, though :p any other subject and I find studying as a group to be super distracting. heh.

I read the post and thought the same exact thing.

Edit: I found that if i wrote things down, i would remember them. sometimes i had to write them more than once though.

I find that studying in small groups, no more than 4 is useful for concept heavy science courses. We would all study at our own pace then whenever one of us didn't understand a portion or was cloudy we would just ask to the gruop and we'd discuss it. Quite a few misconceptions of the material somehow just materialize in these discussions so those get addressed as well

Two things : 1) What do you really want? 2) Prioritization

1) (Not saying that's the case here) I've met lots of folks who kinda only give lip service that they want a high GPA. This leads to...

2) Prioritization. If you really want that high GPA, you'll prioritize your tasks accordingly and make the appropriate sacrifices/compromises. Time management follows naturally from that.

Its different strokes for different folks, but when school is in session, classes/homework/projects/research ==> numero uno for me. That's the only way I could think of to get my GPA. Neffing on ATOT can come close though :D (damn you people!)
