<< If you have this maybe you'll know. Can I connect a digital camcorder directly to this or do I need a firewire. >>

If you have a DV cam, you'll get much better quality with a firewire card. They aren't too bad, have seem them for the same price as this. But it will do what you want via the composite out from your camcorder.

I'm just looking to watch what I took with a JVC Camcorder on my computer screen. I guess it's good for that, no?

scored one, not gonna open it till i can figure out just how good this is...the edison nj location sucks, i went in 5mins after it opened, and nobody knew where it was, then one confused guy (who was willing to help) was looking around for it everywhere, and 10mins later came out with 5 (and there was already a little crowd waiting)...

<< 11, my store had 5 of them when I went in at 11:10AM Eastern >>

I snagged one as well and it looked like they had another 10 on the shelf when I went to check out.

I do predict however that the stores will sell out before the sale ends.

I'll try to pick one of these up. I'll let you know how it goes. I have a number of ideas for using it...like check FoxNews from work. I just need to figure out how to access via port 80 (http) so it's not blocked by the complany firewall. Other good uses is to do some capturing and allowing the family on the east coast to view messages and pictures of the new house.

Since it was icy and sloppy on the roads last night, I thought I'd get up early and snag two of these just when the store opened at 11am. Well I should have got them last night and done a price adjustment/return/repurchase today. I was first in line, but the guy in back of me got to the shelf before me. There were only 2 left. Fortunately he only took one. The sales dude said they are getting more in this week or I could even prepay for it this week. The funny thing is the computer in the store showed 4, but they couldn't find the other two.

Yep, i snatched the last one today at the 5th ave and 37th street in nyc, i came in at 11:10 and the guy is like here u go, last one. I would have gotten two or three and sold em off to u guys who were not as fortunate..but no luck :/ I check out, and there is a guy in front of me already looking for the rebate form :/ and just as we find them, his friends come in asking where he got the card. 😛 2 minutes of traffic could have cost me the card, so im pretty happy for the time being 🙂

SolderSucker what drivers do you use for the remote?

The studio software records in .avi so I guess I will use the drivers from the link you provided so that PowerVCR II will work. Did you say you use the IO Magic drivers for this thing? I suppose the radio wouldn't work then.

With the Pinnacle drivers I can't record sound with the video for some reason.

plenty at monrovia, CA store. they had ~12-13 when i stopped by last night.

went by at 1:30pm today, they had ~8-9 left. 2 on the top shelf, 3 in the middle shelf, and 3 on the bottom shelf hiding behind the dc10 plus box. oh yea i hid one for any AT'ers that may need it.😛 i hide one behind the logitech z560 speakers in the speaker area. leave that one around for any AT'ers that can't stop by today 🙂

good luck getting one for those that want.

I see CompUSA is back to their old tricks of having a small number of an item that's sure to be popular, and then putting it on the full week sale instead of the 2 day sale, leaving people to walk in the rest of the week only to find that it's long gone. They did this with the AAA PDA batteries/charger a few weeks ago.

Relayer, I don't really care to use the fm tuner so i don't bother with installing the Pinnacle drivers. I use the drivers from this website . Those drivers should allow you to use PowerVCR 2 and the author of the website keeps updating his drivers. Some people don't like PowerVCR 2 but i feel it is simple and gets the job done. For those purchasing this card, the tv software that comes with it is buggy and sucks. I would recommend using whatever else you can get your hands on. As for the question about the remote, I don't use it and can't make any recommendations about what software to use.

Okay, ran out and bought one at 12pm. installed it and the damn thing freezes on me when i try to run any of the functions. i'm running win98. during hardware installs says that file 'pclepim1.dll' cant be found. anybody have any solutions?

thanks

I got mine today and I'm still playing with it to get it to work like I want it to.. It actually tunes pretty well, *IF* you have some decent drivers.. I'm reinstalling the OS on that machine because I had installed so many different drivers before finding the SoulForge ones that I think look more professionally done than the ones that ship with it.

When I was at the CompUSA at Regency Sq. in Jacksonville, FL. today (about 1PM), they had about 4 more left. I hid one behind the third row down of Vertec (or something like that) video cards. It's the card in the green box (also on special, I think) with a guy who looks something like a Borg on the front. - Kinda silvery looking face..

Hopefully, another Anandtech reader here in town can snag that one this week.

WOOOOOOOO
DC!
you're awesome!
I'm going now to the monrovia store!
I called but no body is answering?
so strange but oh well 😀
thanks!

I went to the Anaheim, CA store and that had plenty there. I took one and there was probably 6 - 8 left there. Now for the fun part...actually installing the card.

😉

<<
you're talking about the IO Magic one, right???

I wonder if it would be better to have the Pinnacle one then.
>>

Look a little closer at the IOMagic Card... It is a Pinnacle card.
Same card, even says Pinnacle right there on it.
