<< I did the same. Picked up one today. But I am not sure if the rebate will be valid.

When you got back, you are basically doing a return and rebuy. They'll give you a new receipt with the valid date and that's the receipt you will use for the rebate. The CSR said it's no problem and I didn't even have to say much. He just took care of it as I'm sure they have done this many times. But if you are unsure, just ask them.

I bought this card about a year ago(about 40.00 shipped w/o remote) and cannot capture with xp.The drivers previously posted from the german site allow for tv viewing with out probs on my set up. Thanks to the 78.10 dell 40 gig hard drive I now have a dual boot (98se & XP) that works well for this. I set the drive up as 3 letters c,d, e and can capture with 98 to e-drive(fat-32 format both ops) and with the codec from the german site , xp's movie maker can read the captures, and "import" them for work in its features. Pinacle's studio has more transistions ,titles, and effects , but you can make your movies WMA format with XP. Im very pleased with this card for the money.

I am with the rest of these guy that are Anti-Pinnacle. I have only watch tv on my card once or twice back on 98 year ago.. I dont have a pro just the regular and its driver support is terrible and soo is pinnacle. I got the card for 20 bux and it was a waste of money.. Its sitting on top of my monitor right now as we speak.

So dose this card run under WinXP Pro? I am thinking that it dose.
Also, what features do you lose if your running under that particular OS.

I just installed the IO Magic one I bought a couple weeks ago. It seems to work fine in XP. The card itself is a Pinnacle.

I have the card and it runs fine in Win XP Pro...but I don't record or use capture. Just use it as a TV card and it works fine with the new 402 drivers for XP.

I got the IO Magic one also (a PCTV Pro) inside. Works great with XP, using the IO magic software.

The deal doesnt start until the 20th. The instant rebate wont show until then.

This card is awesome, just don't use the studio software. Get Dscaler for playback and Girder for the IR Remote.

Does this card work if I don't have any antenna? Also, can I attach a digital camcorder to this or do I need a firewire card?

Is this deal going to be available only through the local stores, or will we get the instant rebate buying it thru compusa.com too? Anybody ordered an ad deal online from them before? Right now it's still listed as 89.99 online, but then again it's still Saturday in California too.

I had the Hauupage winTV card and used it under 2k (via kt133 chipset with geforce). Use under 2k was horrible - it would continously lock up for no reason. If I wanted to watch something, I had to record it on my VCR, then watch it (and reboot a couple times) just to complete the show.

Prob had something to do with ktchipset (maybe PCI latency patch would have fixed it) since I didn't have the same probs under the trusy BX chipset.

Ordered and confirmed. The $5 shipping is still less than the gas cost for driving to the nearest store would have been. Thanks for the heads-up, guys!

Also ordered online. The nearest one is 13 miles away and between gas and hassle it costs more than the cheap $5 shipping charge.😉

i have a studio pctv non-pro running in winxp, had it running in 2k also, no problems once i got up to date drivers.

hmmm... maybe i'll pick up one of these pro cards tomm... 🙂

abitaz,
it should have composite video-in. You should be able to capture from your camcorder.

Studio PCTVpro
Watch TV or listen to the radio on your PC. Studio PCTVpro lets you watch your favorite TV shows in stereo while your work or surf the Internet. Create your own movies from video captured from TV, VCR or Camcorder with the easy to use Studio software. Studio PCTVpro includes TV & FM Tuner, Stereo Audio Decoder, remote and software.

Check this thread from last month.....

PCTV

Looks like a good card IF you can get it to work with your system. Seems there are Driver problems with some OS's & it doesn't like sharing IRQ's. Also it doesn't come with VCR (vivo like) software. Just manual recording.

Think I'll give it a try since it's only $29 after rebate.

<<

<< ...Great card, but the FM tuner doesn't work with win 2k/XP. >>

Well, the german web site says it does.

w00000000000000000000000000000000t! FM Tuner works again!!!! Thanks much for the updated drivers. Still no crashes at all in XP.

Oh yeah...just a tip for you all. Make sure this card sits up high in a PCI slot near the AGP. Putting it in a lower PCI give me conflict with a couple of IRQs.

<< If you have this maybe you'll know. Can I connect a digital camcorder directly to this or do I need a firewire. >>

If you have a DV cam, you'll get much better quality with a firewire card. They aren't too bad, have seem them for the same price as this. But it will do what you want via the composite out from your camcorder.

I have 3 of these things. They consist of 1 Iomagic and 2 of these Studio PCTV Pro. The IOmagic is a rebadge of the Studio PCTV Pro minus the fm tuner and remote. I prefer the Pinnacle brand instead of the Iomagic because of the remote and the internal audio connector. As it comes out of the box, the IOmagic has to be plugged into the external line in of the sound card. With a little soldering and a few minutes of my time, I soldered on an internal audio cable onto my IOmagic and i don't have to use that stupid external audio cable. Otherwise, I use PowerVCR 2 from my IOmagic software package and it works well enough.I don't even bother with the Pinnacle drivers or software. I run all three cards on BX chipset boards and i have no problems. I use the drivers from here

FYI, as of 8:30 AM EST this morning the CompUSA website reports the card as being sold out. I would reccomend getting to the stores when they open if you want to snag one today. I am about to run out to my local CompUSA myself.
