The older I get the more I realize we as people just rationalize everything. You're doing it right now and so am I. We use it to make the situations we are in appear better and cement them. Case in point: I said I'd never own a minivan. I bought one and now I sing their praises.
Yeah, humans in general rationalize everything, I'll agree with that. However, what you can't argue with is that kids are 1) Stressful 2) Cost lots of money 3) Are a lot of work. I do love kids (see story about my youngest brother earlier), but man, I just don't want that responsibility for 20+ years. And even the poop, vomit, and pissing all over the place wouldn't be my biggest concern -- the teenage years would be. I remember what a mouthy pain-in-the-ass I was at 15, and even then, I was kind of shy and introverted. I can only imagine the terror of having a mouthy 15 year-old who is a party animal.
