Student Says He Was Suspended After Refusing To 'Stomp On Jesus'

Update: the university is now apologizing for the incident: http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/201...apologizes-after-students-stomp-on-jesus?lite

Now the intolerant professor needs to be fired.

I'm sure this kind of anti-Christian bigotry happens at many schools and universities every day, this is just one instance that got some publicity. Liberal "tolerance" in action.

This is good news. This happens all over the US and it must stop. The professor needs to be fired and should issue an apology to Christians for what he did. This is wrong.

Why do you attack Christians like this? Why should a Christian teacher be fired for simply mentioning Jesus in class? You should apologize to Christians for attacking this teacher.

just thought I would share,

I did an experiment, I wrote Jesus on a piece of paper placed it on the ground, then I stomped on it. I didn't hesitate one second.

I suspect it would be the same result with all other common religious deities. I'll report back when testing is complete.

I haven't read along to see if the threat of suspension was true or not, but since we're looking at different cultural perspectives, how about we get some black kids to dress up in clan outfits and burn some crosses? It's for purposes of illumination of course.

I'm heading out to the fabric store to get a pattern for a Klan gown right now.

Will report back.

Sounds great 😀

To me it all hinges on what I can't know and that's the truth of what happened. It's perfectly reasonable to have such an exercise and for people to note their reactions, up to and including being so offended they won't participate. That in itself could be enlightening. If however one were threatened if they did not carry out the act then that's going to way to far. Introspection is one thing, coercion is quite another. What was it? I don't know.

I would like you to find me another example of students being instructed to stomp on paper with names of hispanics on it.

He said hes a Christian and I read that but it still doesn't excuse what he did. Why did he not do this to other religions? Its because he is scared of them.

How about attack all religions?

because the book he pulled the lesson from said write "Jesus"

I imagine because in the country where the class it taught that word has much more cultural symbolism.

I don't think he did anything wrong, I also don't think the student did anything wrong for disregarding the lesson and saying he didn't want to do it.

The only real impropriety seems to be in whatever disciplinary action the school took and why they took it, which seems murky and debatable given the conflicting reports of what occurred.

So stop ATTACKING the Christian professor for simply doing what his lesson plan outlined, from the book. he didn't force the kid to do it, he didn't suspend the kid, if anyone did it was school administration based on what they called "threats"

You say they chose Jesus because it has a bigger symbolism but its very likely they chose Jesus because many of the professors dont like Christianity. They wouldn't do this to Muhammed because they know they would get fired and face death threats.

What part of the lesson plan was exactly from a book and not subject to individual professors don't you get?

Maybe the folks who created the book don't like Jesus but the professor was a Christian man just doing his job, stop attacking Christians.

A university student was suspended from his class after he refused to stomp on a piece of paper with the words Jesus on it. Rotela refused saying that it was inappropriate and went to the professors supervisor and later was suspended.

What the professor did was unacceptable and he should be suspended or fired for this. The student should never have been suspended and must be reinstated immediately.

What do you think should happen to the professor? Should the student be reinstated?

What if the paper said Allah?

Are the hinuds or budhists going to come kung fu his ass or something? Don't forget those bastard Jews either!!!

Would it have made you happy if he lengthened the lesson by 20 minutes so he could include all religions but the result was still the same?

Any links to the student threatening the teacher? What the teacher did was still wrong though.

How would you feel if the teacher did this to Islam?

It's one of the links in this thread before the post I made.

I'm not religious or anti-religious so I wouldn't give a rat's ass if it were Islam. And I support the Jesus-stomping because a lot of these kids get their Ivy League education without ever seeing how hateful the real world can be.

What was the threat towards the intructor? "Fuck off"?

The student was only suspended after talking to the supervisor, so I doubt that would work at all in context.

An apology to "Christians" for what he did? What the fucking fuck are you talking about? Also, how many times have you blithely ignored the part about the instructor of the class being Christian?
