Remember back in 2005 when the Republicans unilaterally rewrote trillions of dollars worth of private debt contracts to the advantage of the lenders and detriment of the taxpayers? Remember when the Republicans bailed out the investment banks on their bad loans and even on their gambling losses to the tune of trillions? I remember. So the Republicans can fuck right off on this one.

REAL statements like this never cease to astound me!

How can Republican voters see something like this and yet still believe that this moronic a$$-clown (or the GOP) has their best interests at heart?

Gee.... I WONDER what "influence" making nearly every reasonable American voter feel sick about America will have you dumb MF'ers.

We need those bodies...

I always felt like if you put me in charge of the military in that movie I could have killed all the bugs in a year or so. Just the world's worst strategy and tactics.

The bugs in the book were tough because they had spaceships and laser guns. Some guys with claws and pincers along with a few guys shooting plasma out of their ass? We can take care of that.

Like we've got starships but no cluster munitions or just like a really big can of Raid?

I’m about 80% certain the poor tactics was on purpose. Verhoeven went to pains to show this world as thoroughly fascist. Need a forever war and constant outrage to keep the populaces rage focused on the enemy and not those in power.

What better way than throwing disposable populations into the meat grinder.

I mean the fascism is not particularly subtle, haha, although in the movie from what I remember unlike the book the major war doesn’t start until an asteroid attack on Buenos Ares so the earth fascists seemed to be able to operate without a great enemy.

In my opinion the terrans in the movie we’re trying to win, they were just very bad at it.

Also you’re going to occupy an entire planet with lightly armed infantry? What were they even occupying? It was all just barren rock above ground.

I feel like the US army as currently constituted could probably slaughter the bugs, much less an army with whatever additional technology allowed us to master interstellar travel.

Don’t throw lightly armed marines at the bugs? This is why I always lose playing against Zerg.

Rines will have to be extremely well coordinated with tanks.

Ultralisks with upgraded carapace, chitinous plating, and anabolic synthesis will plow through almost anything on the ground, especially so with strong bane support.

I don't think I agree with this at all. So someone who paid for school without a loan gets nothing but someone who took loans does?

I'm all for free community college and other ideas but this is so skewed vs fair and even.

I had student loans, I paid them off, I'm good with this. A better solution would be to restore front end funding for colleges to reduce tuition. Some states are already doing just that after realizing that having an educated populace increases economic activity and improves the lives of all citizens.

Whenever I hear about how unfair this is because people before had to pay or take loans they paid off I think about my dad. He got cancer about 6 years back but there was a new drug that basically knocked it out along with surgery. Otherwise the prognosis was pretty poor and long term survival not at all favorable. Every time I see him my first thought is not "how unfair" that he gets to live when all those other people got fewer more painful years.

I didn't require loans for school and my tax dollars are going to payoff this and I don't care. I want the system fixed of course but what this means to millions of people should not be discounted.

those damn youngsters taking the easy way out (even though it was far easier for folks back in the day to pay for college)
