Werdum claims he has a surprise... he's probably just bullshitting but I wouldn't be surprised if he starts the fight off with a flying kick / flying knee, rolling kick or maybe even pull guard and invite Reem into his guard.

Maybe he'll KO him, I watched UFC Saturday and the last thing I expected to see happened. Maia came out striking, and looked pretty damn good with his hands. That fight showed me anything can happen.

I'm sure Werdum will try his hand at striking, it wouldn't be out of the blue at all.. his striking has vastly improved but...

Alistair trains with guys like Semmy Schilt and Gokhan Saki.. I doubt Werdum will be effective in his striking.

This is such an intriguing matchup.

I for one missed your threads, even though you can never, ever be trusted again.

However, you can gain back that lost trust by NEVER, EVER betting against Jon Jones again. He is the truth.

I'd bet on Shogun in a rematch. He didn't even have a coach for that bout.

And, I already knew Bones Jones was legit even before that match. I think any of the top 5 LHWs can beat each other on any given night.

lol you would bet on him in a rematch, for real?? SHIT I'll bet you anything. No coach in the world could help him. I don't even think Shogun would accept a rematch if Dana offered it. That was one of the worst one sided beatings I've ever seen. Dude tapped to strikes.

It's crazy that people think fights will always go the same exact way as the first. I just don't get it...

So using your logic, Wanderlei and Rampage shouldn't have had a 3rd matchup because Wanderlei destroyed him in the first two.

Using your logic, GSP would never have a chance since Serra KTFOd him the first time.

And so on...

Serra winning was a freak incident, Jones winning was not.

You have got to be kidding me. You have learned nothing, have you.

I am a huge matt Serra fan. i agree. it was a fluke. Jones Winning is not a fluke the kid has a ton of talent. he just needs to learn the rules..heh if he did he would be undefeated.

mr steriod abuser should win over Werdum.

as for the rest? meh who cares they all suck.

Wand didn't destroy him though, he beat him in the end, but both fights were close and Page was actually near finishing him in 1 of them but the bell rang. He might have gotted KTFO at the end, but until that point it was anyones fight. Shogun literally had nothing for Jones, and no amount of training will change that. He didn't win a single second of that fight. Also with GSP he wasn't getting man handled the entire fight, he got clipped and lost. Shit happens, but GSP was in that fight until the phantom punch. It was a fluke he lost, what Bones did wasn't a fluke. did Shogun even land 1 punch worth a shit the entire fight? No. Jones did what he wanted to him from his flying knee at the opening bell. Page could beat Wand easily, GSP would never lose to Serra again. Shogun would lose 100/100 fights to Bones.

But it's a moot point because he'll never earn a rematch, I suspect his next fight will be against Page, and Page will exact his revenge.

Wasn't he never to post again?

Yeah, but you have to cut him some slack. I think he honestly believes Shogun would win in a rematch. He probably doesn't even realize he's posting here, if he believes Shogun wins a rematch he can't be using his brain.

Mark Colman has a better chance of coming out of retirement and winning the UFC HW belt that Shogun beating Jones.

i wouldn't say that. Shogun has a chance on beating jones. After Serra beating GSP you gotta figure anything is possible.

slim though..

Regarding Jon Jones--I was talking with my friends about this maybe two months back when we were discussing the talent levels in boxing vs. MMA. I made the argument--and I believe someone on ESPN radio actually said the exact same thing about a week later--that the overall raw level of talent in boxing (or any of the other major, well-established sports) is higher right now than in MMA simply because of the longer history. It's getting harder to "make it" in the UFC now, definitely more difficult than it was just five years ago; however, "making it" in boxing is much more difficult because, as sports age, the cream continually rises to the top so to speak. Each new generation of athletes continues to self-select its way to increased raw, natural ability coupled with increased coaching and training acumen.

Jones, in my opinion, represents the "next step," or next generation, of fighters in the UFC. In five or ten more years, most fighters will have his same level of raw ability. But until then, he stands out because he's just so much more naturally gifted than most of the other people he's fighting.

That, and yeah, his wingspan is just freakish.

I'll bet my cars pink slip and all the money in my credit union account. Since Mark is gone from the UFC for good it's a bet I can't lose, I can't win it either but still :D

What about the real issue with the fights this Sat, why did Gina not get cleared by her doctor when the athletic commission cleared her?

Pregnant? :whiste:

Will be interesting if Barnett wins, him and Dana absolutely hate one another. Even if he was to pull the upset and win this tourney, there's no chance of Dana considering letting him back in the UFC. I'm pretty sure he'll be rooting hard for Rogers. It should be an interesting matchup. Brett has pretty good MT and is fast and strong as hell. Josh is another Roider who hasn't fought anyone worth mentioning in ages.

But if he wins this fight, and wins the tourney Dana will shit himself in anger. I think he has more disdain for Barnett than he does for even Frank Shamrock if that's possible lol.

Barnett and Dana reconciled.
