Unless rain postpones our annual tournament yet again, I will play four or five (flag) football games this Saturday. Two years ago, I about collapsed in the finals as my legs almost gave up. (Last year, I didn't play as much.) I would like to prepare better for this Saturday since 1) I didn't enjoy that feeling and 2) I will probably play most of every game since the first postponement depleted our team.

So, I have tried to drink lots of water and also have tried to keep up my cardio exercising in the weeks leading up to this. These last few days, I have stayed off of my feet to conserve my energy. Now, I would like to know what you guys suggest I eat (and drink) in the final few days leading to the tournament.

The question:
- How should I eat in the next two days?

What I don't want to know:
- Your speculation on my preparation for these games.

You should try to start carb-loading now. It will help you with your energy, especially if you're not getting enough calories that day. That's pretty much all I can think of. You already increased your water intake, so all should be well :) GL on Saturday btw.

Well, the forecast calls for 10-15 degrees, but that's Centigrade ^_-. I'm in Southern CA.

Man, I miss SoCal :) NorCal isn't too bad, but SoCal weather was awesome year-round.

Carbo load before the games and, on match day, try to drink some kind of carb sport drink (e.g. Powerade) during (if possible) or between the games to replenish your energy and keep hydrated. It is generally better to try and drink regular small sips, rather than downing an entire bottle at once - this will just lead to indigestion and discomfort.

All right: Tourney finally happened. Because of all of the delays, we only had five teams, and four of those made the playoffs. We missed the playoffs (at 1-3). But, we had a great time and all of the guys maintained a great attitude throughout the tournament, so we accomplished our goals. And now, I hurt.
