OK, I realize going 100 on a perfectly straight interstate is not incredibly dangerous. If you do it and get away with it, good for you. If you get a ticket, good for you, you deserved it. If you DO get in an accident, good for you - now peel yourself off the road. Oh wait that would advocate personal responsibility and just about everyone hates that.
But this bothers me because a, most people who drive that fast don't JUST do it on straight, empty interstates. b, people who THINK they are good drivers are not always good drivers. I'm assuming you have a racing license to prove you're such a good driver, right Millennium?

Arbitrary self-assessment doesn't make a person a good driver. Having never been in an accident does not make a person a good driver. You don't have to be a great driver to handle a car going 100 mph straight, but I'd hope the people I see weaving in and out of traffic have been driving more than a year or two.
Well, since my comment brought this on, I will speak for myself, once for clarification.
My car is a 2001.5 Passat wagon. This is a car found all over Europe. The autobahn is chock full of them, and they are going 100+. Funny thing is that the people there get where they are going alive. Why? Well it is NOT because their roads provide some magic protection. It is because people drive with their brains and eyes engaged. Quick, which is more dangerous, someone driving in my car on a relatively empty straight interstate in good conditions in daylight at 100 MPH or someone in an old Escort in need of an alignment following 12 inches behind an 18 wheeler at 50? How about some jerk cutting people off at 65? Millennium is right, you have no idea about me, who I am, and what I do or have done, and you never will. However you should pay attention to the first and last line of my post
He never should have been going that fast in that area.
If you know anything about motorcycles, you know mine is pretty damn fast, and yes I have gone a great deal over 100. Now I will not debate that it is faster than allowed by law, but if I get caught I will take my lumps. What I will never do is ride that way in less than excellent conditions, and in an area where I could possibly endanger anyone else. I will not zoom past cars moving 70 MPH, doing a hundred faster. No. In fact, I am a more reserved rider than a lot of guys in Civics on the same road. All this to say, that the driver who caused an accident was driving in a way that was endangering others. He was reckless with no regard to people in his vicinity.
If you are going to go fast, at least make sure you can without wiping someone out.
I am not sure how the meaning of this escapes understanding. Driving too fast for conditions (snow, rain, dark) is bad. Doing it where someone else can get hurt is worse. Oh by the way, I admit to using the cutsie "skilz"
"teh" and other colloquialisms of the IntArWeb as it suits my mood. Why should I not? One more thing. I have been to more track days than I can count. They require that mystical license. Been quite a few years, but yeah I won more than my share.
Now you know as much as I care to reveal, but just don't try to read more into a post than there is. BTW, I do not think anyone is advocating racing in public streets, or weaving or cutting out vehicles. If they are, I have missed that.
