We consider the ones that have names to be pets. The rest are a source of fresh eggs :)
No license needed, well, not exactly. Raising goats requires us to deal with a lot of paperwork, records, etc., especially scrapie tags for the goats. Thus, we had to become registered, but it didn't cost anything.

And people that bologne sandwiches in their $300K homes are idiots too :p

Unless they just really like bologna.

A drug dealer can buy a brand new luxury car cash without raising a red flag to the IRS. Can't say the same thing about a 300k home.

With the price of gas for their Escolades, they don't want to live too far from where they work :p

Stories of people living WAY BEYOND their MEANS?

Watch Sopranos :D

I'm sure that a lot of people do this through loans. My yearly salary is about $20K but I'm sure I could get a $50K brand new car by taking a loan (or anything else that has a yearly payback fee not exceeding $10K), which I won't do obviously, but the chance is always there. It's a silly thing to do IMHO but that's what helps the economy (or rather the moneybags) running. Good for the car manufacturer, the retailer, the loan broker, the insurance broker, the insurance company, the fuel company, the aftermarketers, the body shops, the ridiculous-gadget-that-can-help-you-save-fuel manufacturers and arghh, that's too many to list. And in the end the government creams everything. Heck, virtually you are the only one to lose on it, hehe.

lol, my friends think i live way beyond my means (by the way i act, dress, and what have)... but in reality the only debt i am in is my car note that i am paying monthly... (what saves my greatly, no student loans and the work i did during college, i was able to save up decent money to allow me to get alot of cool ****** when i graduated and got my current job).

my buddy actually made a comment about this yesterday... i laughed and said... dude i wasnt the one who just knocked up a chick and proposed to her... if you think i spend to much... LOL... wait 7 more months...

Why is it ridiculous to want to own something nice?

In my city they have an urban renewal program. It's common to see jags and BMWs parked in front of houses that look like they are goin gto fall down.

What kinda pets you have?

We specialize in fainting goats, but also have a pair of miniature llamas, an alpaca, pig, turkeys, chickens, peacocks, guinea hens, dogs, . . .

My wife and I met a woman who raised alpacas (and llamas I believe) at the fair last week. She had a lot of alpaca "wool" clothing and it seemed pretty nice. Not as scratchy as sheeps wool and very soft.

eh, my aunt was the exact opposite. Was always saving money and penny-pinching so that she "could enjoy life later".

By the time she was in retirement she was so far in the habit of not spending they still didn't spend. Left it all to her kids... who blew it.

Mortgage brokers are the ones who see people living well beyond their means. It seems a lot of people refinance their homes every year and take out the equity to live on.

I try to live just below my means. I believe that "money is just money". I don't bust my freaking ass all day at a job I can't stand just so I can stash my paycheck in a jar under the bed. I maintain a good safety net and we have fun with the rest.

My brother in law drives me insane, as he adds new meaning to "cheap". He's seriously one of those guys that's so cheap it actually makes him a piece of sh*t.

Well after buying my brand-new Passat, I'm now $130,000 in debt and I have about 1/10 that in real assets (bank accounts, IRAs, mutual funds etc.) I haven't had a paycheck in over a year.

But I'm an MBA, so its okay. ;)

My roommate I would say is either living beyond his means, or just a lazy tard. His registration was 8+ months expired sometime ago, and he ranted he got pulled over for it. Blaming everyone except himself. Now he has a brand new Accord v6 coupe, pretty much fully loaded, and I see redirected mail from the financers all the time. They don't know his current address.
6 months after we moved to this apartment, he is finally noting that "I should change my address with my creditors." Duh.
His mom helps him pay for the car (halves?), his cell phone (whole), his computer(whole). He is in his mid thirties, and makes about 50k a year. Our rent is cheap, and we pay no utils. Right now, we have no cable, phone, isp's...because he had to think about the expense when we moved in. Despite the fact he had no problem going halves we decided to room.
Now he is asking about getting broadband, and I went off on him. We missed the deals where it needs a year contract.
He's pretty much a dead beat.
We went for months without a fridge...because I couldn't corner him to come up with his money. Another friend and I finally got one for 20 bucks (a salute to the old Admirals), and the roomate still hasn't paid his ten bucks.
-edit-btw-My friend helped me move the fridge upstairs, a 3 hour project involving removing doors everywhere. At one point, we lifted it above our heads. When I called him about the fridge help, he couldn't make it to help out.-end edit-
I bought a kick-a$$ GE microwave at a good price at 90 bucks. I phoned him before I got it to make sure the price was okay for him. Over two months later, I still don't have the money from him.
Each end of the month, "let's get rent in the mail" day is fun.

No kidding! Where do you live, and how much does your rent eat, that living with another person, paying only VERY basic utils, and making 50K a year still leaves your roommate with nothing at the end of the month?

A friend of mine a while back was living with his dad and had a flimsy IT job (the company ended up going under and he got laid off). He could have & should have bought a Civic, but he *had* to have the Integra instead. So he got a barebones model slower than some Civics and had a lot of trouble making payments on it. The low gas light was always on since he could rarely afford gas and only put in a gallon or two when he did. He used to do 50mph on the highway to conserve gas (and did indeed get some crazy mileage, I think his best was 42mpg). Then he ran out of gas one day. Didn't the low gas LED warn him? No, it was on so frequently it had burned out.
