One of the guys in the company was bidding for a job so he suggested a music video to send along that one of the directors did. He mentioned that it was for a job for a jacuzzi company and then mentioned that the video has plenty of water. When I received the request to make a dub of the video, I had to double check with the assistant because the video he mentioned takes place in the desert.

Wouldn't have been that bad, exept that a ~3MB video going out across several thousands of addy's kinda brings everything to a screeching halt. On top of that, we have several people who travel, and when you VPN in and connect to mail, you have to download your messages in order to continue. God only knows how much that stupid video actually cost the company.

She got fired later the same day. PWN3D.

We had a guy do that too - with a 20MB .avi. He didn't send it to everyone, though, just 20-30 of his closest friends outside the company.

Darwin Award:

Im the network admin at work. (a large Baptist Church) Anyway, one of the buildings that the church uses for "reach out" ministries got shut down because of "city beautification." So all the computer, electronics, etc were moved from that building to the Chapel next to the main building. We soon started noticing that things were missing. About a week later, one of the janitors mentions to me that he had bought a computer ($50) from a guy who needed money quick, however the "guy" never removed the logon password protection. By this time I was fishy about the ordeal. So I told him to bring it to me and I would fix it. He said OK. Next day, I call him and he says he got the computer from another Baptist church in town. Now he would not bring it to me, I would have to go to his house. At this time he said that our church had given it to him. WTF! Anyway, I mention it to the Facilities Manager (his boss) and we call the cops. When the cop got here, he asked the janitor where the main office was. So me, the cop, and a maintenance guy start talking about what to do, 3 seconds later the janitor walks into the main building and passed the room we were in. ( he is not supposed to be in the main building) Anyway, he sits and lies like a dog to the cop for while, then we cut a deal "no criminal charges if he gives ALL the stuff back." So we take him to his house and he obviously would not let us in to get the stuff. Anyway, he is fired, and less than a week later another janitor from the same area starts talking about a computer that the church had "given" them. That is still under review.

Cliff Notes: One of the janitors took it upon himself to "acquire" a few computers, 36" TV, amongst other things (stacks of toilet paper, plastic kitchen sets, etc) and was stupid enough to call me (network admin) for the logon passwords. My gosh, how stupid can you be!
