Go to the hardware or HD, Lowe's, whatever and tell them what you've got going on. Take a pic too. They'll have you fixed up and you'll have it finished in one trip.
That's what I had to do for my bathroom, bad as it may seem. I'm no plumber and the house we bought, a foreclosure, had had most of the plumbing fixtures ripped out, among other "small" items. Had to replace four sinks in the house and being overly cheap, did them myself.
The first was intimidating and had to do the "take pics of what you have" route when buying a sink and plumbing at Lowe's. They fixed me up so I completed the install in one go. After that, the rest were "simple".
Very nice work. Wish mine was as good. But it works.
