Stop sign violation in CA

Hi all

I just got a stop sign violation ticket on my way home.

there were a honda CRX, which is very short, in front of me. That car stopped on the white line and I stopped behind it immediately. When it left, i can see that white line is very close to me. I thought I already stopped close enought for the stop sign, so that I just ran over the stop sign. I feel I am so unfair to get such ticket. Wanna get some advice on how I should fight this ticket?

I read some threads suggesting that tickets should be fought with written declaration. How many of you have successfully done that? How many have you lost in this appeal?

pay the ticket cuz you obviously fvcked up and got caught

keep rolling stopsigns, just don't get caught =P

Question is did you pull up and stop at the stop sign/line.

Yes - fight it.

No - Pay it.

if you didn't stop again after braking for the CRX, then you didn't stop at the stop sign. You being "close enough" to the line doesn't count, sorry.

If you ran over the stop sign, I'd say you got off easy. 😀

Ummm...if you could see teh white line when you stopped, then you were not close enough to the stop sign. The point is to be close enough to the intersection so you can look both ways. If you coudl see the white line, you were not close enough to the intersection to see both ways. It really does not mtter what the car infront of you was doing.

edit, I am not clear, did you, or did you not see the white line? Or, are you referring to seeing the white line at the side of you car?

Replacement costs of those signs used to be budgeted for about $250. (80's)

Consider that against the cost of your ticket.

he basically (& technically) rolled through this one... I chimed in. I detest people who don't stop at stop signs... I drive an SUV... the loss of momentum kills me, but I still stop.

what i despise are the people that drag ass through the neighborhoods at less than the speed limit, then just roll through the stop signs

i just dont get it!

Did you wait a second after the first car left or did you just pull out right after him? If you waited them you did nothing wrong and should just explain to the judge that after the first car left, you were alredy at the line and didn't need to move up. so you checked for other cars and then proceeded through the intesection.
