Who Cares?
When people type Semperon or Athalon they're likely saying the name wrong too. I'd rather be corrected by someone on a forum than ask for an "Athalon 65" at a computer store and watch the employee chuckle as he points you toward their selection of Athlon 64's.
For some reason I have the desire to spell correctly all the time when I type. I have a certain amount of knowledge that may be helpful to some people, as do most people on these forums, but credibility goes WAY down when you type "wuz" and "dat" or use "their" instead of "they're."
It's pretty obvious when someone is making spelling or grammar mistakes because english is not their native language, in which case they deserve some leeway since many people here can't even begin to carry on a conversation in another language, myself being one of those people.
Type-o's are different as well. Sometimes I'm typing fast and don't reread what I've typed and sometimes I spell a word wrong, or even completely leave out a word. That's fine, I don't have a problem when people do that. But when they consistantly misspell words in every sentence of every paragraph... or don't even form complete sentences or paragraphs or use punctuation, it makes me not want to read their post, and not take them seriously.
So if you want to be taken seriously, at least attempt to spell correctly and use proper grammar. If english is not your first language, learn from people who correct you... it will only improve your knowledge of the english language. If you want to be uber and "t41k 1ik3 d1s," don't expect anyone to take you seriously, and expect to be called a moron.
