LOL@The 40k Capitalists in here.
Capitalism is dead. It doesn't work.
Its time to try something new.

Giving money to people will not do a single god damned thing.
My money went into the stock market. So, how did I put people to work? Spending on infrastructure gives people jobs. Time and time again, trickle down economics has proven a failure (you listening Republicans?) and trickle up in fact does work as you will see in the next 6 months (typically the democratic stance)
RANT": God I hate republicans. When the economy is good and you should be eliminating debt, they run up the god damned debt. And at the same time give taxes to the wealthy while people like my brother loose their home. Did you know while bush was in office, the top execs in this country had their pay increase 7 fold! How is your wallet doing?
I'm willing to go out on a limb here and predict that four years from now:
- the national debt will be higher than it is now
- executive pay will be higher than it is now
Who's fault will that be?
Bush, it would take Jesus himself longer than 4 years to make a noticeable change. BO isn't Jesus and cannot perform miracles. I would be surprised if he would be able to lower the debt within 4 years. But than again nobody could. What he's doing today though will lead to the debt being cut, just not in 4 years or even 8 if he gets re-elected. He took the worst possible job in the country and the worst possible time. I don't think executive pay will be higher either.

The idea of them giving us money to spend right now is hilarious. It's all going to get saved, not spent.
Wait, but we were told that even savers are contributing to the economy because the banks will loan the money out.Originally posted by: judasmachine
You have far too much faith in people. Yes some will save it, others will run right down to the corner store and blow it on lottery tickets.Originally posted by: GenHoth

In a matter of speaking that's true. If I was handed $6,700 I'd probably spend half and save half.

This whole think fucking stinks. House members weren't allowed time to read it all before a vote. Expect to see a whole bunch of shit (pork) in it.
And the senate is flying in a senate member from his mothers wake to make a vote tonight. Something like 1400 pages and 8 inches thick.
Rule #1 - do it on a friday night so the public doesn't notice.

Just wait for the people with the Option ARM loans to have their new rates kick in. What was once an $800-1000/month payment will now be about $1500.
It will be the sub-prime mess all over again, unless these current bills in congress and the mortgage companies own up to what they are saying about stemming foreclosures.
