the difficult question is if RV870 and GT300 will be within 10% of each other or not. I would prefer that GT300 be faster, because $399 for RV870 is too much, and if anyone can talk them down, it's nvidia.
That's interesting because GTX 280 debuted at $649 and only with 4870 its price still came down to $499. You are lucky ATI isn't pulling NV pricing in the first place.
does everybody keep forgetting that the 5870 is only HALF of ATIs flagship card so if anything $399 is quite pricey. Nvidias prices were ridiculous but ATI is priced even higher since their flagship will have to be well more than $649. these are next gen parts so they are supposed to be faster and better for about the same price range as last gen. and please dont say the new cards are faster than gtx2xx because that is only a temporary comparison and is certainly not their direct competition.
With SFR/ST exactly the same thing applies, at least until the pixel processing stage anyway.Originally posted by: Janooo
No you did not but if this is AFR then one card has to handle 11520x4800 resolution.
Yes, it could be an issue but SFR/ST doesn?t necessarily solve that.I guess memory can become an issue here. Would you use 128MB card for 1920x1200? Because that's what it would be like when there are 24 monitors and we assume that they used 2GB cards.
I don?t think you understood the context of my question. If you?re not splitting workload based on monitors then you still need a 11520x4800 resolution, and all cards have to replicate the same frame, unlike AFR where they have different frames.4 lines or super tiling.
We know the 5870 has the same core clock but double the execution units and a bumped memory clock over a 4890.Originally posted by: Idontcare
Where will 5890 clocks end up?

If there will be a 5890, it's probably down the line as a refresh...
