He's been fighting pancreatic cancer for some years now. It's had a terrible toll on his weight in the last two years. To be honest, his condition has been so bad that in that photo he doesn't look much different from what he did six months ago. :\

In the neighborhood that I grew up in (up 'till I was 17), two neighbors (next door and 'kitty corner' from our house) both died of pancreatic cancer. I can't be sure but there may have been a third person from that neighborhood as well. I'm NOT liking those statistics very much 🙁.

Fuck you cancer!

FWIW, I'm sure what he's going through is terrible, but my dad has looked about like that for about 12 years, previously being 200lbs+ of pure muscle.

Cancer don't work that way. Ever.

Ever heard of palliative care? We're there to manage pain and symptoms, not only in cancer but also in other terminal diagnoses (like end-stage kidney or heart disease). Having cancer does not mean one needs to die a painful death.

I wasn't just talking physical pain. Emotional is worse.

It's either not him or chopped completely, or both. That picture just doesn't look right, see how his left arm just kinda "ends" in front of the guy's chest? Looks completely fake.

Didn't this come out 6mo or so ago also when everybody thought he was done? People took it seriously, even saying that the guy who was next to Obama during a meeting of the US' top businessmen wasn't actually Jobs.

I agree, and that is more difficult to treat / help with, but not impossible. Counselling, spiritual care, support groups, friends, family and even just "being listened to" all can help.

Glad to see that board members are aware of the concept of "total pain". 🙂

How did he get pancreatic cancer, I thought he lead a healthy life?

Up to 40% of cases are "sporadic", out of the blue. That is one of the sad parts about certain cancers; one can be healthy and have no family history and no risk factors, and still get it.

Leading cause of death is life people. Get over it. He's had a comparatively good life.

WTF, he's barely my dad's age.

He's missing all the joys of plateaued life:
-Seeing your children married off well
-Being a grandfather and the joys of grand children
-Bigger family coming together and enjoying all the giving & receiving of love
-Retire, travel, tend to your garden, tea with wife every morning, etc.

From what I know, he's done nothing but work and didn't get to enjoy life much.

I'd be pretty pissed off if my life suddenly got cut by 40%, especially the 'relaxing' part.

Wow that's a pretty high percentage. There's got to be an environmental variable at work here.

this just in
