Report: Internet Users Who Call For Attacking Other Countries Will Now Be Enlisted In The Military Automatically

1578152354615.png

U.S.—A new policy issued by the United States Department of Defense, in conjunction with online platforms like Twitter and Facebook, will automatically enlist you to fight in a foreign war if you post your support for attacking another country.

People who bravely post about how the U.S. needs to invade some country in the Middle East or Asia or outer space will get a pop-up notice indicating they've been enlisted in the military. A recruiter will then show up at their house and whisk them away to fight in the foreign war they wanted to happen so badly.

"Frankly, recruitment numbers are down, and we needed some way to find people who are really enthusiastic about fighting wars," said a DOD official. "Then it hit us like a drone strike: there are plenty of people who argue vehemently for foreign intervention. It doesn't matter what war we're trying to create: Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, China---these people are always reliable supporters of any invasion abroad. So why not get them there on the frontlines?"

"After all, we want people who are passionate about occupying foreign lands, not grunts who are just there for the paycheck," he added. Strangely, as soon as the policy was implemented, 99% of saber-rattling suddenly ceased.

Wait, what! Spilling blood is well and good but now you’re talking about my money. 😡
I meant the ones that want to start a war and can't serve should have to pay since they can't fight. It's the least they can do to support the cause they believe in.

That's an outstanding idea. We should do the same thing with folks that want free college and UBI. Think of all the problems we could solve with this approach.

You see glaringly obvious problem with this don't you? You want people who don't want to fight to fight while they're are millions of those on the right itching for a fight. I mean, they are already killing their fellow Americans in mass shootings so why not give them a purpose.

Why can't they serve? Hell...there are always admin positions to be filled...

Short answer... Bone Spurs.

There was a time not so long ago, when a judge had the discretion to either sentence you to 5 years in jail, or 3 years in the Army.

I forgot that all republicans are murdering warmongers.

Reminds me of David Cross' bit about those people who make the outward show of patriotism, but clearly have no idea what it really means and have no intention of backing it up.

"And I'd surely stand up next to you, and defend her still today..." Alright, here's your rifle, hop to it! You're booked for the next flight to Iraq. Oh, you only meant that you'd be willing to risk your neighbours' lives, not your own.

Any politician who supports this should be glad to give their adult children to the war effort.

For those calling for attacking other countries, 2 years mandatory military service for males and females alike, those not physically capable for front line combat duty or support eligible for 2 yr. social service outreach in the AO, Veteran's Hospital support, etc. seems about right to me.

No thanks, let right wing cannon fodder sign up if they want to fight wars for corporate and political interests while being led by narcissistic boomer idiots. Keep normal people out of it.

Apologies to you, I didn't make it clear that I was specifically referring to those folks who call for invading other countries.

I will edit my post to clarify.

The website for the United States Selected Service crashed Friday morning, the Selected Service tweeted, seemingly amid fears of a possible armed conflict with Iran. Tensions between the U.S. and Iran — which have been growing for over a year now — sharply spiked Friday morning

In P&N, you must include your own personal written commentary in every post:

2. 2/6/16 -- Use of images: The written word is paramount in P&N. Images may be used in a post ONLY to supplement a written argument, but may not be your sole contribution to any one post, and must be used sparingly, in any case. Repetitive overuse of images by any one poster will also not be allowed.

In addition, since the written word is paramount, posts in P&N require personal commentary, not just links or just images or just anything.

I dunno, maybe it's just me but theres difference between sending kids to get educated and sending them to get killed or kill.
Yes there is, and folks @Greenman should realize that he does benefit from people going to college for free or at least for much lower cost then in the US.

He should also realize that one day he he may need a UBI scheme implemented in the US one day since he could get replaced by AI doing the same task(s) at some point in the future.

While I agree that funding college in things like STEM courses will probably pay better dividends for the US than spending billions of $$$ in a useless war, you'll never convince the (R)'s of that...and FWIW, it's gonna be pretty difficult for Greenman to be replaced by AI....he's a construction contractor.
