Steams Weeklong sale is mostly junk, but perhaps you'll find a hidden gem.

Good, gives me a week reprieve to catch up on my huge list of unplayed games. Now if I could just quit playing Minecraft Mod Packs long enough....

For those who don't have the Enhanced Steam extension, I'd recommend it.

For example, I just opened Sang-Froid, and it is telling me that this is the lowest it's ever been on sale.

However, it is also in an open Bundle (minimum $1). http://groupees.com/bm12

With Steam, I usually wait for prices to drop for certain games, even then I decide if they're going to be games I will even bother playing (Hitman Absolution, Farcry 3, LA Noire, NASCAR 2013 are collecting dust all purchased sub $15 each).

Sang Froid - Tales of Werewolves is awesome. The only thing I can think to compare it to is Orcs Must Die, but better. My biggest complaint is that it isn't very long. It usually takes less than 10 hours for one run through, though there are two difficulty levels. I would highly recommend this game, though you can get it even cheaper than the Steam sale. Right now it appears to be part of the $1 tier of the Groupees Be Mine 12 bundle: http://groupees.com/bm12

Yeah, it all looks like junk, nothing that would be a hidden gem for me. I snagged the trio of old Thief titles for $4.74 last week though, so I've got that (plus the dozen-plus games I've gotten in the last 6 months or so). Maybe the Humble Bundles won't blow chunks this week.

I wonder if deep black is worth...probably not.

Shelter and Sangfroid look really good.

WIsh I'd picked up Banner Saga last time it was on sale.

Gonna get Guild 2 for $2.50. Pretty crappy review on the web, but lots of good Steam reviews. Heard the main problem was bugs, and the patch and mods have made it a good game now.

For the love of god, if you are a fan of horror games at all - or adventure games - or both; then please, buy Scratches. It is one of the most terrifying, most masterfully-crafted horror games I have ever played.

It is unique in that it's not a streamlined, glorified haunted castle that tries to shock you with juvenile gore and cheap scares. No... it is quite the opposite. Rather, the game places you in a familiar environment (a house) with a well-to-do premise (you are a writer looking to finish his latest book), and after a little while, the game slowly begins to screw with your head and creep you out in more ways than I can adequately explain here.

It is intelligent, cerebral, slow-burning horror of the highest degree. Think less "OH CRAP WHAT WAS THAT", and more, "Did that... did that seriously just happen?" kind of horror. Yes, it's a point-and-click adventure game; yes, there are some difficult puzzles, and yes, there is a lot of reading. But if you put aside some time to play it, you will experience one of the most unnerving, disturbing games ever.

If I say any more I will spoil it. Just buy it. I don't even like point-and-click games, but as a horror fan, Scratches checks all the right boxes.

They stole the setting from Alone in the Dark?
