Is Pandora: First Contact worth getting?

I'm kinda confused, it's $9.89, but for $15.04 you get the 'complete edition' which seems to just include the fee Eclipse of Nashira. hmm maybe I'm just reading that wrong and the patch for that is free.

Somehow I keep forgetting the summer sale starts in June...

Got the Metro Redux. At $5/game I'll buy pretty much any (interesting) game like that. 2033 was interesting to play a couple years ago but the engine was already feeling dated.
Yeah, I passed it up twice but finally bought the bundle. Might be worth $6.24 to play 2033 in a more modern engine - but then, how do you pass up the remastered Last Light for another $3.75?

Everything else that looks interesting to me it tells me I already own, which just makes me feel stupid.

Join a friend's game and it fixes the problem. That's how a friend and I managed to get it working.

I don't have any Java or JRE installed on my machine at all, so it shouldn't be Java.

Tried to do that but it said I was too low level.

you cant join any game that is 10 levels higher than your highest completed level. since you havent been able to join, assume it is 0.

your only option is to find a friend who has a working/playing instance of the game and ask him to start a new game, which as long as it is level 9 or less you should be able to join.

or just find a friend in a sub 10 level game, which may be hard if they have been afk grinding without interruption.

You should be able to start your own though, no?

i've been leveling up my autoclick also. it looks like you unlock new abilities the higher you get. i've also been trying to specialize in killing air monsters.

[edit] lol my guys is a total glass cannon

Too funny. That's exactly my strategy as well! I'm a air monster killing glass cannon......

It seems like that really is the only "strategy" involved with this game....specialize in a monster type and switch lanes until you land on that type.

Oh, and upgrade armor when you're almost dead (refills your health and gives you the new higher cap).

Check one my friend's games and they are on level 186 😵 My guy was 72 when I last looked at him.

Is there even any point to this nonsense ? Seems like the milestones are always going to unlock regardless of your participation.

Ok so far I have bought:

-Super Meat Boy
-Final Fantasy 7
-Castle Crashers
-Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons

Question for the board:

Is Metal Gear Rising or Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Hero's worth buying?

Also considering:

-Shadow Warrior (big discount right now)
-Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
-GRID 2 (I really want to get a racing game this sale)
-Portal 2
-Shank 1 or 2
-Dark Souls

Any thoughts?

Free cards you can sell?

Shadow Warrior and Dark Souls good choices on that list.

I bit on Valkyria Chronicles. Every time a sale comes up I get interested in it, but pass anyway. $5 seems cheap enough though.

I'm torn on that one. I've read the story is awful/childish, and I don't LOVE that type of strategy game. The FPS aspect seems interesting, but I'm not sure I have the patience for the game vs. other stuff in my backlog/wishlist.

shadow warrior and portal 2 have been cheaper. it was $4 last sale when they were featured deals. I'd wait to see if they drop unless you want to play right away.

grid is supposed to be good but i think it's an arcade style racing game. project cars is more sim based but it's relatively new. right now it's 25% off. not sure if it'll get any lower.

Portal 2 is a solid choice.

I did enjoy Castlevania LoS...it's the best 3D version of the game they have done but it has flaws. Their character design is weird at some points (especially Marie) and the game itself has little replay value IMO.

Wait for Daily Deals and Flash Sales.

Yeah, this. Golden rule of the Steam sale is to only buy flash/daily deals until the last day.

Super Meat Boy

FYI, this game is part of the current Humble Bundle under the $1 section.

Is Metal Gear Rising or Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Hero's worth buying?

Ground Heroes is more like a demo level with a lot of extra content. If you're a fan of Metal Gear Solid, then you'll probably like it. Frankly, I'd wait for a $5 sale.

Metal Gear Rising is definitely not like most Metal Gear games. It's a crazy hack and slash that's more like Bayonetta, but I'd say not as good. I'm not really a huge fan of boss fights that drag on forever, and this game has that in spades!

Metal Gear rising was fun, but not memorable. I don't remember anything at all about the plot, probably mostly because it didn't make much sense.

50% off Civ 4 feels a little chinsy... at like, 75-80% off, I might pull the trigger on such an old game.

I have the base Civ 4 on Steam already, but was thinking about picking up the expansions just for the sake of it if they're ever cheap enough, on the off chance that I feel like playing the game again someday.

(I own the physical game/exp disks somewhere, but god knows where after 4 moves)

Finally got around to getting tabletop simulator and going to load up betrayal at house on the hill later along with a few others.

On a side note the daily monster game reset happened so get back in and just pump the auto fire / elements to equal levels if you don't play the game that often.

I caved and bought GTA: Vice City for a whopping $2.49. I figure, meh, if I don't like it, I'm out a couple items from McDonald's dollar menu that I don't even want. I always found VC to be the most overrated of the GTAs, so I hope going back and revisiting it 10 years on changes my tune. But man, it takes some work to get old games running properly, doesn't it? I already had to download a mod to open up controller support, and Nvidia Inspector, since the regular Nvidia control panel will not let you force AA/AF/other GFX options in GTA:VC, and you need to run a frame limiter because going above 30 FPS apparently crashes the game... It's a pain in the ass for a game that is going to look like deep-fried ass no matter what because it's a 12-year-old console port.
