Glad I didn't spend more than $5 on Metal Gear 5. I went in rambo and exploited the AI the same freaking way that I've done in soooo many games over the years. Why can't anyone take AI to a newer level for a change? geez. Many of today's games still use the same AI basics that Turok 2 had and about as stupid. Common sense, if you're outgunned and your brethren is getting killed left and right....retreat and try something different dumbass. Don't keep hoarding into the same spot where 10 bodies of your buddies lay...god I hate AI in games.
I killed about 80% of the enemies on the entire base in 1 spot. The others was just from simple kill a couple and wait around the corner kind of thing for others to show up....sneaking around is pretty much a waste of time really and I didn't find it very fun

enough rant, it was $5, I'm over it and unfortunately expect similarly poor AI in the Phantom Pain but at least it should provide much more to do.

Some games that looked decent but I held off on were Dungeons 2, that new city building game, and offworld trading company (designed by the civ 4 developer).

Yeah there's normally a recap sale the last day(s) of the sale.

Or just wait and Amazon/GOG/GMG will have the same games on sale, sometimes cheaper (and still Steamable).

gog.com purchases are not steamable, but no need for them to be.

I like how this leveled squarely at a single game, and not every other game where the player takes on a mob, ever, in the last decade.

Me, I think dumb AI can be fun.

Depends on the type of game. In MGS, you're ostensibly taking on highly trained tactical squads of intelligent soldiers. In something like Left 4 Dead or Shadow of Mordor, your enemies are portrayed as mindless creatures fueled by pure rage. It's not "unrealistic" to expect zombies to behave stupidly, but in a game like MGS which is supposed to be about stealth against intelligent enemies, bad AI really ruins any sense of immersion. So, yeah, dumb AI can be great fun, but not when the game is telling you "careful, these guys are really dangerous" when they clearly aren't.

Interesting you bring up stealth. Person I quoted explicitly stated that is not what they did.

I've played MGS games before. I've seen how they react, and it's not terribly stupid. (EDIT: in regards to tracking you down if you play stealthy)

You also bring up other games where AI is expected to be bad, but leave out others like GTA, Batman, etc., where the enemies are not intended to be mindless husks.

Dumb AI is dumb, we're agreeing on that. But you're selectively choosing your examples to try and call out this one game when I'm saying that they all very much suffer from this same problem.

Got Wolfenstein: New Order, Talos Principle and Aliens: Isolation. Great games at <$15 each. Very happy so far.

Grabbed Titan Quest Gold. Been wanting to check it out for years, since I used to watch a buddy play it.

What do you think of Satellite Reign?

Looks awesome. Spiritual successor to Syndicate Wars and what not. But $30 for early access seems steep, and my backlog is long. I've got my eye on it, but will wait a while longer to bite.

I agree, I've been waiting for someone to do a Syndicate game, but word is that right now Satellite Reign is very incomplete, and not really playable as a game.

Fallout New Vegas 3 was a great game if you like post-nuclear RPGs. Just get the Mission Mojave Ultimate Edition quest bug fixes mod from Nexus and you're good to go.

Well, $22.49 right now. My backlog is bigger than your backlog.:)

We really need a game about buying games. Oh wait, we have one, Steam.
