I haven't tried it since last night (The 13th of march) i am serriously hopping you are right.
I did a test prior to that, the connectivity test, and it passed on all accounts, even the ports were wroking fine. Anyways, i got my fingers crossed, otherwise screw steam. I emailed them and they took 2 weeks to reply, and it was simply a suggestion to do what i already did.

i've been going back and forth with them on the issue and today they said try it in safe mode with networking. the game won't even load in safe mode but steam did download an update for cs:s so i tried it under "normal" mode and it worked fine. been working fine all night so far.
i don't know if it was the update or what.
one thing i do know - i suck at CS, lol
its weird how you can be good at one FPS but suck at another.

Just give it couple days to ajust to the physics.
Anyways, il try your idea with safe mode + networking. I am thinking something in vista might be fudging it. In xp couple months ago it worked just jim danddy.

Weird indeed... I haven't had any trouble recently with Steam or servers... except for that damned friends list and favorites not working properly...

I don't think that's a steam issue. Some servers redirect you to other sister servers automatically when it's full or when there's only reserved slots available. At least that's how it is for CS:S.
