Even though it is still buggy, I like the new interface and GUI, much cleaner and very slick, easy to organize your favorite Half-Life mods and the tweaks on the graphics are not too bad.

The server needs to improve, but this should of been released when it was completely ready. Still feels buggy to me.

I, personally, think the GUI of steam is ugly. The colors it uses suck and it doesn't use the windows theme I selected for all programs to use. I don't want an ugly no-border app that draws windows contents when dragging. Not only that, but it puts 50 windows on the taskbar if you want to do more than just look at the menu. After you start the game, it looks ok, except that on mine the text is way too light and it looks faded. I hate how the console doesn't go all the way across any more. Also, they didn't fix any of the bugs in half-life that have always bothered me, like the windows cursor showing in game after alt-tabbing, graphics artifacts, etc. I, personally, liked 'The All Seeing Eye' MUCH MUCH better than the steam 'server finder'.

Steam fvcked up my computer.

My internet connection slowed to a crawl whenever it was open. It randomly locked up, and caused other programs (IE) to lock up randomly.
I never got it to update CS, it just locked up whenever I tried.

I just uninstalled that POS.

Reevaluating my HL2 purchase because of it. Of course, if I don't buy it, I'll just get the SP warez edition - stealing storyline > paying company supporting nazi software distribution methods

I love steam once it is installed...just getting there was tough.
It is great knowing if/what servers your friends are in and being able to browse games without exiting..etc...

I prefer using 3rd party programs to find my friends. Not as reliable since they weren't built in, but steam is ugly and bloated so I don't like it much.

There isn't any spyware in steam, its just that it doesn't initialize a huge file it makes, so on FAT32 machines whatever was on your HD in that space before the file was made will appear to be in the file if you use a hex editor to view it. NTFS initializes unused space to 0's when its allocated to a new file so you'll only see the problem on 9x machines.

If you aren't going to bother researching the issue yourself, then I recommend NOT relaying unreliable, second hand information. How many people do you suppose read your posts and left this thread thinking Steam actually has spyware? This is how rumours get started.

Didnt have any probs with the beta, now Steam retail SUXs!

Locks up IE6, fails to login a lot, locks up whole computer periodically.
Just about ready to off this pos software.
