I've already explained to you the inaccuracy of that statement. Please go read the book I recommended so that I don't have to keep correcting you.
I already made it, but you conveniently ignore it or duck out of a thread whenever you're confronted or asked to prove your point. So let's revist: http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=32779735&postcount=206No, you made a poorly disguised personal attack, with no aguments.
Not the same thing.
I still remember your posts, just as little useless as this tidbit.
Appeal to a book isn't an argument.
An argument you make yourself...I see none of that.

And where's that statistical proof you owe the forum since you insist the Steam hardware survey is a valid source of data?
Yes you do. You asserted that the Steam survey is a valid resource, now you have to back that up.I don't "owe" anything.
Are you sure 40 million people are being polled? It might just people in employ by Valve. Or their second cousins only? Or the people of Bangor, ME? How are they being polled? Is it random? Is it opt in (like it used to be)? How did they choose their sample size? What power are you using to insist that this is a valid survey? When was their stratification process (or was there one at all?)? Since you seem to insist that this survey is a valid resource, my only assumption is that you know all of this. Please share it.You show me a survey that has 40 million poeple being polled...I bet you you will have a hard time finding a poll with +1000 polls.
I don't need to; I actually understand statistics. Also, please don't conveniently duck out of this thread now, as you have the habit of doing.I think you should read the "book" you are trying to hide behind yourself...

Or
right now, Steam is giving us a page of random percentages without any data or analysis to back it up, and you're asserting that it means something. Prove it.

So after so defiantly shooting down the reading I recommended to you, you show you don't have a clue after all. I'm not sure there's anything I can say really that isn't already in what you posted: you don't know how statistics work, when asked to participate in a basic discussion regarding them to prove or explain your own assertions, you can't, and you're ignorant enough to reject any attempts to learn more about the subject. Stop posting in these threads, every time you do, I'm going to reference this post. How large does your "expetise" say the errormargin is?
All you do is whine..and try and take me down the slippery road of moving the goalposts....not interested.
If it's that simple...post the math and prove me wrong.
Otherwise: /mental ignore.

Data with no backing or proof. What's so unclear about that? If you want to use a resource, the burden of proof relies on you to prove its validity. Would you quote a dog in a paper and then ask the journal to prove your dog wrong? Your argument is as ridiculous. And I too...for the total lack of counter-proof
You presented nothing...Steam presents data.
BIG difference.

How did you get that? In statistics, data collection methods are just as important as the data analysis. Again, if you knew even a shred about statistics or had some humility and read up on it, you would know this.So the data is just pulled from thin air??!![]()
There we are! Conveniently ducking out of a thread once you've been proven wrong and your agenda is ridiculous to the point of hilarity. Like I said, every time you start this, I'm just going to keep posting references to these smackdowns. This is tiresome

Saw this article posted in the PC gaming section, thought it was interesting.
