Hey, publishers do what they must to maximize profits. When demand is high that means raising prices to get the most out of sales; when demand is low it means lowering prices to keep sales going.

My guesses for sales for the rest of the week are, in no particular order:

Command and Conquer Day
Need for Speed Day
Spore/Sims Day
Mass Effect/Deadspace Day
Crysis Day
Battlefield Day

probably have some other random games thrown in on some of those days (like Burnout Paradise

Want to get DA2 eventually, but this price is still too expensive. Maybe at 29.99 or for sure at 19.99 or if they come out with a GOY edition for 30.00 or less.
Also waiting for Dungeon Seige 3 and Fable 3, but will not pay full price for them either.

ARGH.

$19.99 for the Ultimate Edition.

Paid $160 for all the content individually since release @_@

Early adopter ownage.

It is ok, I paid $20 for it a few months ago, but when I went to install it it wouldn't work since EA doesn't really support games that long after release and their DRM authentification server was down for a week. (It just happened to go down the day I tried to install and play the game). I probably would have rather paid the extra and had a good fun experience with the game rather than days of frustration and only having to pay $20 for it (I still haven't played it).

If there's a Mass Effect day I'll probably get 1&2, since my 360 has crapped out.

Is 1 better on PC?

Nice price on the ultimate DA1 game. I may have to finally buy it but I still have The Witcher and Drakensang unbeaten ...

2 of the best RPG's out there.. Drakensang is basicly DA before DA came out (combat wise at least) The Witcher is excellent.. if oyu can get past teh 12 year old sex stuff.. not that I mind it.. but you can really tell guys with no GF's made that game...

DA2 really needs as much of a sales boost as it can get. ;)

On mach 23rd the sales numbers where roughly 700,000 (all paltforms).

the very "strange" VGcharts and other places show its only midly behind DA nowdays... depending on what you believe its DONE awsome for a 2nd game using the first games engine.

errr doesnt it? I dont own the 2nd one... $29 is my price point.. have to wait a bit longer.

Those numbers are actually pretty bad for a anticipated sequel like this.

Yes. It was released later on the PC so they took some extra time and fiddled with the GUI a bit for PC users. It's still not the best but they at least tried.

Today:
Need for Speed Day:

Hot Pursuit: 50% off = 14.99
Shift (1): 66% off = 6.80
Undercover: 75% off = 2.50

Not bad.

edit:
Well I was slow. However, I got more detail. :p

First off, # of sales != quality. It's annoying how often that gets used around here. Going by that logic, Avatar is THE greatest movie of all time and it's not even close. :p

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we didn't see sales like this so quickly after DA1's release, so of course the sales numbers are going to look well, they had to drop prices really quick and cost is usually the biggest obstacle!

Any of those NFS games worth picking up? Seems two of them (Hot Pursuit, Shift) have ok to pretty good critic reviews, but the user reviews tend to be a bit lower.

From what I understand, Shift is an odd NFS in that it was more realistic and less arcade feeling. For that reason though a lot of people liked it, apart from some complaints about floaty steering or something like that. Cars drifting too easily or something.

Hot Pursuit was also supposed to be good but $15 is just a bit above my "knee jerk" price. I might have jumped for $10.

Not bad.

Hot Pursuit would been sold at <$10. But I'm kinda surprised it's this low so soon after release. Although they already announced a new NFS, so not all so much.

Shift is a bit more realistic than most NFS games. It's a track racing game, not a street racing game, and it's not story-driven either. The controls are a real handful at first, but luckily they include a pretty comprehensive system for tweaking them. There are guides all over the place for how best to adjust the controls for an Xbox 360 controller and other control methods. I wouldn't recommend it if you only have a keyboard though. The more arcadey NFS games are okay with a keyboard but not Shift.
