It seems that steam has a bunch of games on sale today to jan 3rd. I did not notice anything special; but i did pick up king bounty ap for $26.
(I really liked the first game; but had picked up dragon age just before this one came out)

Was looking for an action game but none of the recent better ones appear to be heavily discounted

anyways I'd post a link but anyways. One warning they are computing % off in a funny way; 50% off is actually 33% off (for example 1c games are "50%' off but are actually 33% off).

Nothing stands out as great (i was hoping for prototype, deep space of wolfenstien; just a basic mindless shooter).

The Eidos pack for $49.99 is pretty good, especially since it includes Batman:AA

Edit: Looks like Steam is still updating the deals. The Witcher:EE is now $13.59.

A lot of good deals. Very tempted to pick up Eidos pack on top of my other purchases.

Notice that there are some deals that end before Jan. 3rd. They will be changing deals regularly (daily?) based on a timer on their front page.

Today's deals are:
Defense Grid - $2.49
STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl - $1.99
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising - $19.99
Grand Theft Auto IV - $7.49
Mirror's Edge - $4.99

Wow, lots of deals. I just bought about a hundred more. I am such a consumer whore. I am also buying Evil Genius for everyone on my friends list because it rocks. It is a much better deal at $1.99 than the $10 I was going to pay yesterday. Yay!

If you're into platformers, Braid for $2.50 and Trine for $8 are great deals..

I also found a few more gems..

Unreal Total Pack (Unreal Tournament 99, UT2, UT2004, UT3 Black Edition..all for $13...orly?? http://store.steampowered.com/sub/683/

Beyond good & Evil - $5 http://store.steampowered.com/app/15130/

Indigo Prophecy $3.39 (trippy action/horror game) - http://store.steampowered.com/app/9740/

Shadowgrounds Pack (2 top-down shooters) $3.99 - http://store.steampowered.com/sub/552/

Oh, and guys..If you get Stalker, make sure to install the complete mod - http://artistpavel.blogspot.com/
It's a free patch that retextures everything in the game so it looks much better (and creepier) than the original. :)

In for Stalker, and thanks for the info on the mod. Maybe I'll get to it one day after I finish the 15 other games I don't have time to play.

Also, is S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky any good? They've got it for $5.

Crap, just as I thought my Xmas shopping for myself was done. I'm pondering the Edios package, as well as the Witcher. Dam it.

Damn it, I just picked up Witcher and Indigo Prophecy this morning and now realized I am running low on disk space. Damn you Steam!!!!!! Now I need to either delete games or move Steam to another harddrive which is a PITA.

CPA and others who have gotten the Witcher from Steam:

What kind of DRM comes with the Steam DC version? I know going from vanilla retail --> EE patch --> DC patch, the Tages driver gets removed. Is this Steam version the same way (ie, it just uses the basic Steam DRM)?

Honestly, I don't have a clue.

No, I didn't find it worth the ~$3 I ended up paying for it. You end up mostly in the same areas that were in Shadow of Chernobyl with some slight differences, but the mod community is pretty lackluster (the game without any mods just isn't that great). I would suggest just waiting for Call of Pripyat, or just replaying Shadow of Chernobyl.

God damn that Eidos pack keeps tempting me. Oh well, off to play more zombie shooter!

The first shadowgrounds was a good top down shooter, definately picked up survivor. Glad to see Witcher finally drop in price :) Now direct2drive just needs a big end of year sale, besides the 24 days of Christmas.

These Steam sales are killing me. My Christmas/New Year holiday just won't be long enough! Just ordered Witcher and have been playing Defense Grid since yesterday.
