It probably set itself as a system file. Go into DOS again, type:

attrib -h -r -s (file) to get rid of all protections on the file and you should be able to delete it

Check your msconfig startup tab for anything referencing BDE, aswell. I it's mentioned in there it means that some BDE thing is running and that's prob why you can't uninstall it. uncheck it (or delete mention of it in the RUN keys in the registry) and reboot, should be able to delete then.

Worked for me :)

ALSO:

goto start>run>type in regedit

click the plusses on all of these:

My Computer
HKEY Local Machine
SOFTWARE
Microsoft
Windows
Current Version
Run

and delete the b3d Update--everytime you bootup, it does this:

C:\WINNT\BDE\Update\Zupdate.EXE -silent -p "C:\WINNT\BDE\Update" -s setup.cab

I hate this company!

Who has dumped Kazaa as a result of BDE?

Going to START>SEARCH>FIND FILES OR FOLDERS...

I searched for "bde" on my C:\ drive and came up with the following files in the C:\WINNT\system32 folder:

(All are from BDE Corp.)

bdeverify.exe
bdeverify.dll
bdesecureinstall (x2)
bdeinstall
bdeinsta2.dll
bdefdi.dll
bdedownloader.dll
bdedata2.dll

Anyone know if it's safe to delete these files?

There must be some way of ramming this situation up Brilliant's ass.

whoever said that they risk "losing all their users" is very wrong.

the average kazaa user is a dumb college girl who just found out about the program and decided to use it instead of Napster! the average kazaa user also believes that kazaa is the only way to download anything on the internet

Buwhahaha! So true! The week before last, a girl at Tech was "busted" for setting a new campus record for most bandwidth used on one connection in one day: 56GBs!

<< Urgghh! Has anyone deleted those BDE files successfully??? >>

YES they are safe to delete (if you right click and go to Properties -> Version tab, they all say Brilliant Digital on them. If you don't have their BDE crap on your system anymore you don't need those files anymore)

Um, I never had a problem uninstalling it. Just close all IE windows and any other program that might be using IE (Like kazaa, duh ;)). and wait a little bit.
