and then i just heat it up.

excellent way.

there is a secret (not that special, but it does make a huge difference) to cooking a good steak.

Let it rest and get to room temp before grilling, pan frying, broiling.
it makes it super tender and delish!

Actually, the "secret" is to let the steak sit for about 10min AFTER you've cooked it.

actually the best steak has both done. but i bet more people put a cold steak on the grill than cut into it immediately.

I thought that was point 1 of the obvious things to do?

Sprinkle some rock salt on it and as it slowly cooks, constantly squeez a lime all over it. It's the best you'll ever eat. This is also incredible for chicken wings.

not even A1?
Can't eat my steak without A1

Kosher Salt, cracked pepper. Then I might sweat some onions (need to cook on low heat for about 30-40mins to get that "restaurant taste".

Those stupid bastards. Thats why you cook to about 5 degrees under where you want it, then during the meat's resting, it'll come up the remaining 5.

Perhaps, but isn't that a health hazzard, technically speaking anyway.

Paranoid much?

NOOOO.... no A1, no steak sauce at all. I want to taste the steak ... lightly enhances with S&P and garlic. i dont want to taste sauces or spreads of anything like that. i only eat med rare strip steak, so nothing else is needed and i find it only hides/covers/detracts from the flavour of the steak.

🙂

Really good steak only gets a little salt & nothing else... cheaper cuts I use Pickapeppa sauce... its a Jamaican steak sauce & tastes like A-1 only spicier!

This thread was making me really hungry.. until I read this. 🙁

anyway......

I like my steak well done with BBQ sauce. I prefer grilled. But puting it in the crock pot when you go to work and then at supper eating it. Wow talk about melt in your mouth goodness!

i don't mean to leave it out for hours. just about 10-15 minutes. it is ok for about that long.
I asked my mom who has taken many food safty courses for her job and she said that that short of time, it is ok.
Bacteria would grow on the outside only, which is seared when you cook it. I don't think it's a hazard.

Rock salt?

Salt and Pepper. Don't ruin a good steak.

If you're eating a crappy steak? Marinate it in something acidic first, will soften the meat.

10 mins is too long IMO. I wait about 3 mins.

Maybe he meant Uma Thurman.

salt and pepper, and maybe a little olive oil.

when I'm cooking steak its medium rare, and I refuse to cook it for anyone any more than that or allow them to put anything else on it to ruin it
