what do you put on your steak when you cook/eat it? i'm cooking some on the grill tonight... need to try something new. what tastes good? 😛

Garlic powder. That is all. Rare-Medium Rare FTW 🙂 Had it last night. If you're feeling spicy, toss on some cayenne powder too.

excellent way.

there is a secret (not that special, but it does make a huge difference) to cooking a good steak.

Let it rest and get to room temp before grilling, pan frying, broiling.
it makes it super tender and delish!

Wash with water (supposedly makes it less cancer risky, I dunno if true)
Sometimes rub with oil, but, usually the water is enough to
sprinkle with Meat Tenderizer and then rub Mrs Dash on both sides.
Grill away.

Mmmmm. Steak.

Perhaps, but isn't that a health hazzard, technically speaking anyway.

sometimes i cut up the center and put seasonings in it so it will spread taste a little more. thats just a theory, i never bothered to tell the difference versus seasoning the surface.

i leave it to marinate at room temp in a tiny bit of olive oil and crushed garlic for a few hours... when i am ready to cook it, i sprinkle it with Kosher salt and pepper. Once it is cooked, I dont use anything else on it.

I marinate the steaks in Italian dressing after I season them with Season-All, Nature's Seasons and Garlic Powder.
I don't put anything on them after they cook, nothing is necessary.
They are wicked good.

i don't mean to leave it out for hours. just about 10-15 minutes. it is ok for about that long.
I asked my mom who has taken many food safty courses for her job and she said that that short of time, it is ok.

Hahahaha!!!

pssst, you have 5 posts till lifer... but your an elite, damn nvm.

I was soooo flattered to be given Elite status, I really was. Then I got to 9900 posts and thought. Hmmm.... while Elite is wonderful and I am honored, I will not watch that magic tick over. I would not give up my current status for it though.

thanks for noticing.
🙂

Salt, a little pepper.

or for flank/skirt steak for tacos I will use a dry rub....

another marinade that I like is the Nogales Steak taco marinade from the Complete Meat Cookbook...

Actually, the "secret" is to let the steak sit for about 10min AFTER you've cooked it.
