Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will be fed for the rest of his life.
What ever happened to good old fashioned sayings like that? A more modern version is something like:
Give a man a fish and he will complain because you didn't give him 2. Teach a man to fish and he will complain because you are eating steak and he has to work his butt off to get a stupid fish.

NK went through a long period of drought, and that's why they can't grow rice and shiz for themselves. I don't know what the situation is like now, but seeing how they're still eating grass, I don't think it's gotten any better.
I also don't think the people know that their government is causing them to starve. They've probably been told some sort of "victim" story.
It's sad people still live like this, and there are still dictators around that would inflict this kind of harm. But there's not much to be done... at the moment anyway.

Grass is actually very nutritious during certain stages of its growth.
We can't digest it though. It can actually kill you because of this.
They're probably making soup out of it. That might break it down enough to be realitivly digestable..
A while back, I heard about starving people in Africa making bark(as in tree bark) soup. 🙁 I wonder how effective that is...

The way to end world hunger is to end oppresive governments and command economies. It's like this: a well fed populace requires a reliable food supply. A reliable food supply requires modern agricultural techniques. Modern agricultural techniques require capital investment and technological know-how. Capital and technological skill require liberal governments and free economies. In the meantime, fine, throw food at them, but it's not a long-term solution.
Oh, and wealthy countries are wealthy because they have liberal institutions and free markets. Wealthy countries also have low birth rates. So introducing liberal institutions and free markets also reduces population growth.
As you can see, there's only one permanent solution to world hunger that doesn't involve Draconian measures.
