Ive quit for extended periods many times. I also know the next time I quit, it will be permanent. I think that is why it has been so hard for me to go even 1 day without smoking. Hopefully Zyban will help, because I know that once I quit this time, I will never smoke again.

Zyban (wellbuturin) really does help. You must take it for approx. 2 weeks prior to actually quitting. There will be some adjustments that have to take place, most importantly, you may have trouble sleeping for 2-3 weeks. It will pass. Stick with it.

I quit yesterday, and am taking Wellbutrin.

Also-its a good idea to use the gum or patch with the drug once you actually quit.

Good luck, brotha.

Isn't that a mild anti-depressant as well? I took Wellbutrin when I tried to quit too. Started right back up after the prescription ended. :(

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine but he quit taking it on his own which was a HUGE mistake.

Stick in their Bud you can quit!

You obviously have never been addicted to nicotene...Taking Zyban for a couple months to help you stop smoking is not even close to trading one vice for another..

Pull your head out of your ass ok!

Wellbutrin is the generic drug for the trade name Zyban. They are not addictive. It is a mild anti-depressant and often prescribed for that, but they are also the "quit smoking pill". Your doctor will help you determine how long to stay on it. Generally, though, it isn't for more than six months. Long enough, in any case, that you are used to being a nonsmoker psycologically. You will be long done with the physical aspects of the addiction before the mental parts are overcome (which is what the drug is helping).

This is not a herion to methadone type thing, blazerrazor.

My ex went on it to quit. She said for 2 weeks nothing really changed, and then all of a sudden even the sight of a cigarette made her nauseous. Quit pretty soon after that. She started up again a year or two later, quit again, started up again... :(

Good luck quitting - it's probably one of the best things you can do for your health.

Don't worry, Zyban isn't addictive, but you may have to take it for some time for you to really kick the habit.

I've never heard that, but I have heard that when you replace your cigarette cravings with snacks, you'll get fat.

no, it makes you gain weight since you are no longer constantly medicating with a stimulant

I dunno about you, but I'd rather be fat than a chimeny. But then I've never been fat. But I would think barring any medical condition you should be a ble to lose weight with the right diet and working out. And by working out I don't mean 10 reps 2 sets with freakin 5 LB dumbells. Dumbelle. I lifted 8 lb. dumbells once. I switched to helium balloons and now i get a good workout.

Oh ok Thanks. I was wondering if I quit smoking if I would lose weight. I know I need to quit, but I need the crutch for at least 6 more months.
