I'm going to watch it the main room, thought I'd start one up.

If Boyhood gets best pic I'll be upset :)

Apparently not, but is still early.

The only nominated film I've seen is The Grand Budapest Hotel. I liked it, but it's too off the wall to win Best Picture. Wes Anderson's films are not for everyone. He's got this dry/dark humour that Americans really don't understand. Plus comedies rarely win.

American Sniper won't win. Left wing Hollywood has been whining too much about it.

I think Selma has a strong chance purely due to the politics surrounding it. A lot of African-American actors and directors are butt hurt over it not getting nominated in other categories. Hollywood loves oppressed minority films. There's probably a lot of behind-the-scenes pressure to give it the win.

Boyhood is my other top choice due to the critics buzz and Golden Globe wins. It's a very polarizing film though. Half in the Bag criticized it for being sappy and unrealistic.

Everyone actually in the business does since its all about money and ego's.

Award season. When millionaires celebrities get to sit in big fancy ballrooms and circle jerk.

I liked to see who won, but I don't watch the award shows anymore. It's a lot of tripe, and about as fun as watching paint dry.

The oppressed minority film won last year, won't be two in a row. Birdman this year.

Wow, I seriously have never even watched in years.

Hope it gets better.

Guess I was wishing too hard.

I had to ask the wife who the tall annoying black woman was earlier.

I started the thread and might not make it myself, sorry about that.

It hasn't started yet. You're still watching the pre-show. :D

The Oscars. Where people still bitch about a movie like Shakespeare in Love beating Saving Private Ryan like it really means something to them.

Not sure I've seen enough good movies to really care this year to be honest. I like to use the Oscars as a guide to know which movies I may want to watch later that I haven't seen or even heard of yet. With that said I still haven't seen 12 Years a Slave even though it's been sitting here for months.

Funny how I always wondered when I was younger how old people didn't ever have the time to watch movies like I did. Now I'm old.

...30 minutes in and we have two awards presented. I honestly love marathon, 4 hour Oscar shows. Damn them for trying to keep it to schedule.

That's a serious injustice. To paint everywhere.
