So, today i started beach body's insanity workout.
Good god, that thing is fucking intense.
i've been doing it at home and i don't think i can do that. it just gets too hot without wind.

anyone else done it.
What were your results, how was your experiance.
Ps. i am not too unfit or anything.
I ran a half marathon last year and play racquetball consistently so i was really surprised when i got exhuasted in the 1st 15 minutes

I was checking it out this morning. Looks sort of like P90x without pullups and weights, uses more your own body weight. Only reason I dont do these workouts is cause I don't see myself doing plyometrics in a hotel room (I travel overnight 2-3 times a week) or in my 2nd story apartment.

i have it saved on my hard drive. i've just been too chicken to try it... i want to, though.

the main motivator for me wanting to do it is the girl in the commercial talking about her trying to see how far she can push her body... that and losing between 500-1000 calories per workout.

I started it today. I didn't like the "tools" P90X required so this is the next best option.
I did the fit test - yeah - I flunked.... Looking through the workouts - It's really not all that complex which is nice - I don't like fancy/complicated BS. We'll see how it goes.

What is the workout exactly? I'm not usually a fan of these routines that promise results by kicking your ass super heavily, that is easy to do and beating the crap out of yourself will not necessarily produce results in conditioning or strength.

E.g. I could come up with a workout that will knock you on your ass - run 1 mile at 90-95% of your 400M intensity, whenver you have to slow down/walk, perform 20 unbroken burpees. Do this every day for 2 weeks. I guarantee you will feel like shit every time, and you'll probably accomplish nothing fitness wise other than hurting yourself. From a strength perspective: Squat 95% of your 1RM for 3 sets of 3 every day for 2 weeks, same thing (you will regress for sure on this one).

you know how p90x is designed to get you RIPPED in 90 days (because it says so in the name)? well, Insanity is similar, but in 60 days! Insane!

kinda like 7 Minute Abs vs. the dated 8 Minute Abs.

I think that's a good point. For exercise to improve your fitness, it must be hard. However, not everything that is hard will improve your fitness.

I'm going to buy the P90 set from a neighbor, the Insanity one looks cool but way too grueling. Not sure I'll see the results from the infomercial. But I watched a few minutes of a few of the DVD's at his place and they look to have a good verity of exercises. Insanity seems more for Cardio as you don't need anything extra to do the program. p90 you need weights resistance bands and a pull up bar. Don't really see how either of these wouldn't give you good results if you followed them. The reviews for both on Amazon are outstanding, reading a lot of them seems most of the people saw great results. All I know is this will have me in better shape and is much cheaper than a personal trainer.

I am on Day 28 and feeling great, haven't missed a day. I can already notice that my stamina and endurance have increased considerably and it's a great feeling. I am also lifting weights in conjunction with Insanity and hope to see better result.

I have lost fat around my waist as pants I used to wear are no longer as tight as it used to be. Dig deeper!

P.S. Oh and on my second fit test, i saw anywhere from 30-50% improvement.

Question, what kind of shape were you in before you started this? I'm interested in it but I think it's too advanced as a starting point for my out of shape ass lol.

I was not in the greatest shape when I started. All the working and eating out had me gain weight.

Finished 60 days and started on 2nd week of another round of insanity. This time, I am going straight to second half of the workout which are max intervals; they are longer and more difficult. Still difficult as Day 1 but probably because I can now push harder.

FYI, I am 5'8".

Before:
-157lbs
-Waist size 32
-Could barely run at 6mph for 40 mins

After:
-145lbs
-Waist size 30 (on way to 29)
-Could run 6mph with ease, run at 7mph for 40mins, working on 7.5mph for 30 mins (but I am gonna stick with HIIT rather than these runs).

5'8" 145 is a bit on the slender side. Could be a good starting point to cut down fat before trying out adding some lean mass, if that's your thing at all, ever.

I've this for awhile but stupidly slipped down the stairs and messed up my knee. I put these workouts on hold but I think I'm ready to give them a go.

Anyone still doing Insanity or starting a rotation soon?

Not doing Insanity, but on fourth week of P90X and am really liking it. 40 years old and while the body takes longer to recover and the fat is taking longer to shed, I can definitely see and feel a difference.
