The 5, 10, 15, etc one. I started the Campaign on Brutal and it has been increasing. This mission was mission 7 for me though so it won't pop up till 3 more missions.

Still unsure which Brutal achievement you were referring to in your other post, but again, if your 5,10,15 one is increasing, then you were probably referring to the completionist one which you can check in your achievements and see if that mission is highlighted w/ a check mark.

I've pretty much given up on the normal games for this (too much work on strats, etc). I'm way more interested in Custom maps... which was the same case for StarCraft 1 and WarCraft 3. I just wish the custom maps were of higher quality like the ones in StarCraft. For instance, marine special forces was highly polished.... the Special forces (there's like 30 different ones) are all pretty shitty.

The original marine special forces took ages to beat if you could even do it... and then this one was like cake if you just farmed a bit.

Anyway, I am wanting better quality maps, damn-it! So many fucking bugs.

Also, none of you are online that often.

The game has only been out a few months....give it time. You're not going to get perfect polished custom maps right away.

The ones I've played are already pretty good, though I do expect even better ones over time.

I mean, how long did DOTA take before it was really balanced and polished?

I've had issues w/the brutal achievements as well. Clicking on brutal 29, it shows that I've done 4 missions (which is correct). But clicking on the 5,10,15,20,25 achievement, it shows that I've done 1 mission.

I don't see how I could be getting credit in one place... but NOT the other?! wtf. I don't really want to start a new campaign for a while... just wanted to play a few of my fav missions on brutal :(

Did you ever start a mission on brutal? In other words, was there a mission that the very first time you played it, you set it to brutal?

If so, then that one will count towards the 5,10, 15...

If you played a mission on normal, then went back and replayed it as brutal, then it most likely won't count.

Also, those 5, 10, 15 achievements are buggy.

Nope, I never started a mission on brutal. I played the campaign (all 29) on hard. After beating it, they let you replay whatever mission you want, so I tried a few on brutal.

From what you're saying, I shouldn't even have the 1 brutal mission, haha ><

Yeah my friend encountered some weird bugs w/the 5/10/15 stuff. At some point he earned the last one (25?) even though he had only played like 8 campaign missions total.

I got the Hard 10-25 achievement all in one swoop. Definitely bugged.

The brutal 5-25, I had to do the normal way and started a new campaign.

I still don't get how people macro zerg.

What is the "proper" way to macro to make units?
1. hatchery
2. queen
can you macro the eggs?

I watched games when people could do 2-3 hatcherys at the same time. How is that possible?

Yeah, produce extra larvae from the Queen and just keep pumping out units. When the larvae pop, you can just select them all from the hive and queue up what you want. That's what I did when I was won my Zerg games when choosing random.

they have the hatchery's and queen's hotkeyed and just constantly check and make sure they have spawned larvae, and with all the hatches hotkeyed they just his S (i think it's S?) then spam the hotkey for the unit they want (z for zergling, t for muta etc)

My suggestion: (i don't main zerg, so maybe this isn't the best way)
1) all queens on one hotkey
2) hatcheries hotkeyed as you want. I usually put them all on one

I usually "time" it so that all of my queens have >=25 energy at the same time. That is, I try to produce new queens so that their enregy count lines up w/the old queens. Failing that, I just let the old queens gather extra energy.

Then when it's larva injection time, I do...
1) press queen group hotkey
2) hit v then hit shift (v selects inject larvae; shift starts the action queue)
then either
3a) hit backspace (repeated presses of backspace steps through your hatches in order), click on hatch; backspace, click, backspace, click, etc.
or
3b) click on hatches on the minimap.

4) release shift
Note that 3a) and 3b) are alll done with shift held down. When you release shift, the actions will happen.

This may not work if the number of queens and hatches is different.

edit: as for eggs, the only time I micro eggs is right in the beginning when I don't have much of anything else to do. I path the eggs separately so that I get a nice, even spread of drones.

Patch incoming on Tuesday

Linky link link

Well bc and ultralsik change doesn't bother me much. Haven't seen a ultra ever in 1v1. And bc's only in 1 game. (which I won)

increasing reaper build time and bunker build time is fine too. Same with zealot. Zealot rushing bascially was instant win vs zerg or toss of same skill level. (if toss did'nt rush too).
Only time I lost with a zealot rush was vs. diamond player when I was in gold league.
And i didn't loose because of the rush but because I expanded too quickly after it failed.

Ok that queen thing does not make sense to me still.
The person i was watching cast eggs at the same time on all his lairs. How does he do that at same time if you have to look?

Hit the hotkey for queens, hit larvae, click on the minimap where the hatchery is, repeat for every queen/hatch. He doesn't have to be looking at the hatch if he is good enough at clicking on the minimap. It can be done fast enough that it seems to be at the same time.

Just picked up starcraft II last week to play 2v2 with a friend. Man is this game addictive. This guide helped a lot though, thanks for all the tips. Now I just gotta not let it interfere too much with schoolwork.

lol, yep. I'm definitely falling behind on my thesis work due to sc2. And I don't even have a computer that can play the game... I play at a friend's place.

Is there a way to go back and do the secret mission? I don't have a save before Media Blitz. I did it from the archives but that didn't open up anything new.

You will have to load a game before you went to char. Any save file is fine so long as you haven't gone to Char yet.

Even if you have save file that you already beat media blitz, but haven't gone to Char yet, that's fine. Just load it up, go to archives, play Media Blitz on at least normal difficulty, find the secret document, complete Media Blitz stage, then the secret mission will unlock.

How does it unlock? I went back and beat it but I don't see it on the map and no one has any extra dialog.

Lower right corner of the map, behind the little base that is there. There is a science facility from SC1 and inside it is an item named "Secret Documents" or something like that. Just collect it and then beat the mission
