"The StarCraft II beta-test period is coming in the months ahead! If you'd like a chance to participate, now's the time to let us know," reads the post. Interested parties must simply visit their Battle.net profile page, choose to opt-in for the beta, and re-submit their current system specs by way of a small downloadable piece of software

http://www.battle.net/account/...ement/beta-profile.xml

wasn't sure if i should have posted this here or under free stuff. Feel free to move it mods =)

yup, me too, they just changed this recently, because I had signed up about a month or 2 ago and the system specs part was not there.

This is probably the least excited I've ever been about a blizzard game, not including Starcraft 1. Signed up anyway though.

I signed up, and if I gain access to it then it will allow me to perceive how it would be like to have it in a regular basis, somehow as a demo. I did that for Dawn of War II, and it convinced me to stay away from the retail game and it saved me $50.

just a FYI for everyone signing up. You must have at least 1 blizzard game tied to your account in order to opt into a beta.

Meh, not interested. They're splitting the game into 3 games, with pricing causing the final cost to be $90 not $50. Each new expansion will be contributing new units, so you'll have to upgrade to stay with the crowd.

No thanks.

nah, its not my kind of rts. I like TA/Supcom style much more.. starcraft has too much unit micro for me. I'll buy it just for the custom maps in hope of a high resolution dota remake :D

How was it any different then what they did with the first version?

Never underestimate the gullibility of the Blizzard cultists. These people will pay Blizzard any amount of money for what amounts to wholly unrevolutionary, uninspired gameplay. I've never understood the internet love affair with Blizzard.

Translation: Im a cheapskate.

Anyways, is all you have to do for this send in the system specs? Because ive done that, i dont see a "sign up for the starcraft II" beta page though. Ive got all 3 universes ticked for the beta option thing though.

Have you played any of their games since Vikings 2 for SNES? Every one of their games is fucking brilliant. They worked on an adventure game in the warcraft universe for ~3 years in the early 90's before canning the whole project because it didn't live up to their standards. They did this more recently with Starcraft Ghost. They don't release a game unless it's omfg awesome enough that there will still be tens of thousands online 10 years down the road. Blizzard is so far ahead of all other game developers that I can't understand that you can't understand the internet love affair with blizzard.

Bring on Diablo 3! And btw, rock'n'roll racing for SNES was one of the most underappreciated titles and one of the best games on the console.

QFMFT. aside from Super Metroid and Mega Man X, RNR was the most awesome fucking SNES game ever. i rented that game so many times as a kid from blockbuster. eventually got it for my birthday one year. i looooooove that game.

Since it's an open beta, everyone should get in.

I think you misread the subject line, the beta signups are now open. This is not an open beta, there will be limited invites.

Sorry; I don't participate in these forums regularly (not a huge PC gamer just Cod4 and UT3 for me); haven't seen these arguments.

Yes, I am a cheapskate for not wanting to be milked out of my cash.

I'm more irritated by the requirement to upgrade to stay with the online crowd. What will be the release schedule for these? If we're talking 2 years in between each then that's a different story, but if it's only one year, I'd only start mastering it before the next one comes out and completely changes everything.
