Starbucks

Alone

There's a Starbucks near me, and sometimes I'd rather just go there because it's quicker. However, I feel like an idiot whenever I order. I just want a coffee. A big, regular coffee.

Usually I'd just say "Large Coffee" or "Extra Large Coffee" but "Venti" makes me sound like an idiot. "Venti Coffee"? "Bold Venti"? Seriously, what the hell am I supposed to say?

I feel the same way when I go to mcdonalds. All I want is a burger, but they force me to say "big mac".

Starbucks sucks. Seriously I can't drink their sugary swill. Even their regular coffee seems mediocre at best. You are better just going to mcdonalds and drinking their crap for cheaper.

Lucky for me I have some amazing coffee shops in my area, sucks for those of you with no other options.

My usual conversation with the "barista" when I happen to stumble into a Starbucks:

"Can I get a large coffee please?"
"I'm sorry?"
"A large coffee please."
"Oh, you mean a venti?"
"Yes, a large."

I'm so glad we have Caribou here. Much better. But I have worked in areas where we only had Starbucks. I found that "large coffee" worked well. It's their marketing, not mine. I order small, medium, or large, and they can figure it out from there. At that time, I hand over my form of payment, receive my coffee, and leave.

I say, "no, it's a large black coffee. Next you'll try to tell me that barista is a real job".

I don't think I asked where to go for coffee. I don't like Starbucks, but it's right next door to me and honestly when I'm hungover I ain't walkin' far, so Starbucks it must be.

I actually enjoy McDonalds coffee honestly. Though recently I've been playing with my French Press every morning but when school starts up I'll probably go back to my Micky D mornings.

Also I just say Large coffee if getting just coffee. If I'm getting their flavored shit I may say Venti. Like a Venti Mocha sounds decent but saying Venti Coffee sounds dumb.

I go to Starbucks every once in a while. Every time it goes like this:

"Large coffee please"

and then I pay.

I like Starbucks fine, but seldom go there. When I order, I say large coffee, and I've never had an issue. For a more permanent fix for your issue... Buy an autodrip maker with a timer, and set it up the night before. You'll have a whole pot full of coffee waiting for you that's virtually free in comparison to Starbucks. Add $35 for a nice steel thermos, and you'll never have to drink office shite again.

Oh man. Caribou is a cut above for sure. It's just too bad they aren't as trendy as Starbucks because it makes it harder to find one when I need a fix. One time I accidentally said tall instead of small there and the girl behind the counter said "No. We don't do that here. We have Small, Medium and Large. You take your pick, but we aren't going to serve a 'tall' coffee!"

It took me by surprise and really opened my eyes to how stupid Starbucks' naming conventions really are.

I look them right in the eye and order a "small", "medium" or "large".

I do this once a year when they have the Christmas flavours.

I usually order by size (12, 16, or 20 oz). I won't order the 20 though, since they only put 2 shots of espresso in there. WTF? Why not just give me a big hot cup of coffee flavored milk? So then I have to order two extra shots at 75 cents each and I'm up to the dreaded $5 coffee.

OP should go get a McCafe instead. It's the same quality.

"omg i hate starbucks, i can't stand their fruity names for cup sizes, and i also hate the people who make coffee for me! my concerns are so fucking important!" - everyone in this thread
